Acer Iconia W510 Windows 8 tablet now on pre-order at Dixons.NL

acerdock-580-90The Acer Iconia W510 Windows 8 tablet with Dock has now gone up for pre-order at Dutch site Dixons.NL.

The 1.80ghz ATOM z2760 powered device has a 10.1 inch 1366-by-768 screen, 2 GB RAM, 32 or 64 GB SSD and weights 600 g and is less than 9 mm thick. It features Acer’s AlwaysOn, AlwaysConnected technology.

It also comes with a keyboard dock which can be folded all the way back to act as a presentation stand and extends the battery life to 18 hours.

All this will cost 499.99 Euro, or around $648, which is a pretty reasonable price for what you get.

What do our European readers think about the price? Will you be biting? Let us know below.

Thanks Michel for the tip.

I had the chance to put my hands on this tablet. Is really good one and the price is exceptional. I will definetely buy one :) Thinking btw to not buy the dock, only the tab.

I think it looks cute. I’d prefer the Surface RT but if the price is exorbitant the W510 is an option, after all I’m currently using the W500.

      • Massimo Buongiorno

Remember that this is a full Windows 8 device, not RT!!

        • alukard

I know, but I’m all for RT version of windows since all I use on the tablet desktop is IE10 and VLC. I don’t have any apprehension to using the metro apps on the tablet cos they are cool and there will be more that are alternatives to the desktop apps.
Its a whole ecosystem that is well suited for the tablets and ease of use.
I have a desktop pc with W8 that works just fine with both UI environments.
Of course having a low power x86 tablet like the W510 is a good option for those that need to run standard apps as well as metro apps.

Same here. Having used the W500 I’ll definitely be going for the Surface RT. (Wouldn’t go for an x86 again, much less an Acer, and definitely not this unit. White colour doesn’t look nice to me, and with the keyboard dock looks even worse).

    expensive coz its Acer….

  • techieg

Another laptop with an upside-downable keyboard? Come on, where is the innovation from these hardware OEMs?

  • Daniel Rivero Horie

Not bad but I’m not liking the design :-/

  • Mr.InTernaTionaL

I feel these OEMs are pushing us more and more towards the Microsoft Surface with their bland designs and super high pricing.. I can’t wait to hear what they have to say after Microsoft comes out with their tablets and lower pricing knowing that they have all those tablets out there that need to be sold..

  • Wheez

Price ain’t too bad, but it ain’t no Surface and it’s Acer.. But I really aint interested in any mobile Win8 device unless it’s Surface or the design has been like directly copied from it, mostly the touchcover-mechanic.

Best buy, definitely, among non-core w8 tablets. Acer is aggressive and seems to have great products!

Microsoft has not announced Atom based Surface. They have Arm or Intel Core based models. So comparing Iconia w510 to Surface does not make much sense. I am getting Atom based tablet (most probably W510) as it can run Win legacy software (unlike Arm based tablets) and will be light, not too hot, fanless and have long battery life (unlike Intel Core based tablets)
