ASUS Transformer Book Detailed On Video, 1080P IPS Touch Screen With 128GB SSD

Along with the announcements about the new Zenbook Ultrabooks, All-in-ones, Asus silently spilled details about the upcoming Asus Transformer book.

“ASUS Transformer Book is the world’s first ultraportable to combine the best features of a notebook and tablet. When it’s time to work, Transformer Book is a powerful and fully featured notebook with a high-capacity hard drive. When its time to relax, the high-definition display detaches from the keyboard dock and Transformer Book instantly becomes a multi-touch Windows 8 tablet with its own blazingly fast SSD storage. With Smart Battery technology that ensures maximum mobile performance in both modes, Transformer Book the perfect solution for anyone who needs all the power of a notebook with the versatility of a tablet.”

The Asus Transformer Book is expected to have the following specs with no word on availability date.

  • CPU Core options up to Core i7 3517U
  • Full HD 10-point touchscreen. IPS.
  • 128GB SSD (tablet) + hard drive storage (up to 500GB) in keyboard dock
  • 4GB RAM
  • Micro HDMI (tablet)
  • Micro SD (tablet)
  • Headset port (tablet)
  • Sensors (Gyroscope, compass, accelerometer)
  • 720p (1.3MP) front cam. Internal mic
  • (Optional) 5MP rear-facing camera.

On the docking keyboard…

  • SonicMaster stereo speakers
  • Backlit Keyboard
  • Magnetic charger connector (dock)
  • Mini DisplayPort (dock)

If the price starts with $1000-$1300, I think it would be a killer deal. What do you think?

Im no Apple fan which is why i do not see the point of owning a Macbook clone. Dammt Asus, stop this!

Its a transformer hybrid. You can take the screen out. I don’t think that counts as being a macbook clone.

Only sad thing is the missing support for stylus.

  • markiz

Graphics did not make the cut? :(

I believe discrete graphics is planned for the 13″ and 14″ models.

      • Drewidian

I hope so, because this is the device I’ve been waiting for. I think next year’s model will have an active digitizer and stylus, but this is what I want for this year in the 14″ model.

    • GG002

I want a docking keyboard that has discrete graphics in it! I wonder if that’s wishing for a fantasy?

  • Emi Cyberschreiber

its sad Intel is so powerful. i would rather have an amd not so powerful like i7 but have a good gpu. specially since alot of software is using opencl and stuff like that for acceleration. but intel gpu sucks and it will always suck.
of course this doesn’t seem or look too bad. lets hope it gets to sell because win8 needs to success so people would shutup about “it will fail like vista and me blabla” :p

Wow, just wow… I want one of these but with better graphics.

  • koenshaku

Wow what awesome specs! One question though is does it fold in the dock?

  • mookie

i just peed on myself… looking forward to this badboy

  • Hurry up and take my money

Discreet graphics in the form of an nVidia GT630M is available on the notebook when docked.

    • Walley Fipps

Has that been confirmed? I saw them say gtx 640 in the orig. press release but it is not listed on asus’s site now.

Where is the stylus / pen support? This does does not combine the best features of a notebook and tablet if it’s missing a wacom digitizer pen. How could ASUS screw up such a critical detail? Without the pen, tablet mode is just for play-time as far as I’m concerned, which means I’m giving my money to Samsung instead.
