Microsoft Bing today announced the launch of Bing.com/awards, an awards season resource guide for consumers. Toshiba Kirabook, one of the premium Windows Ultrabooks  that available last year got its internals refreshed today. Toshiba Kirabook already had top of the line specs including 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, Intel HD graphics and the 13.3-inch PixelPure display with 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution. The updated Kirabook comes with latest 4th gen Intel processors delivering upto 9 hours of battery life. It also features three USB 3.0 ports, HDMI out and a full-size SD Card reader. Kirabook was only available in the US and Japan so far. However, Toshiba has planned to begin sales of Kirabook in the Europe starting this quarter(Q1 2014). Vizio has finally updated their 15.6-inch Thin + Light machine with latest internals. The device is now powered by quad-core Intel Core i7 processors, 1080p touchscreens, 802.11ac WiFi and Intel’s Iris Pro graphics. Vizio has also refreshed its 24-inch All-in-One machine with similar internals as well. Externally, they are basically same machines. Toshiba is jumping into 4K revolution not with one but two laptops. At CES, Toshiba has revealed these two new 15.6-inch 4K display laptops. These laptops will go on sale in mid-2014. Tecra W50 is a thin and light 15”-class mobile workstation that comes with integrated NVIDIA Quadro K2100M with 2GB dedicated memory professional graphics, 4th generation Intel Core CPU and 15.6” 4K Ultra-HD display (3840 x 2160), 282 PPI, color calibrated Satellite P50t not only features 4K display, but also a touch screen. Microsoft today revealed that over 3 million Xbox One consoles were sold in 13 countries before the end of 2013. Microsoft thanked consumers for their overwhelming response and promised to bring lots of new titles like “Titanfall,” “Watch_Dogs,” “Project Spark,” “Sunset Overdrive,” “Tom Clancy’s The Division,” “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt,” “Destiny,” “Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare,” and “The Elder Scrolls Online,” to Xbox One platform. At CES, popular Indian OEM Micromax has announced a new tablet called Canvas LapTab. The device will dual-boot Android Jelly Bean and Windows 8.1 OS. The tablet will sport a 10.1-inch 1,280 x 800 display, 2MP front and rear cameras, powered by Intel Celeron 1.46GHz processor and 2GB of RAM, 7400 mAh battery and 32GB of built-in storage. It also has Bluetooth v4.0 and expandable storage option. “The Intel-powered LapTab is the first dual-boot Windows and Android tablet. The device is aptly designed for multitasking across operating platforms and users would need to simply reboot the device and select the alternate option to switch from Windows to Android and vice versa,” Micromax said. China has ended its 13 year old ban on game consoles today. This should be a great news for Microsoft and Sony as their popular consoles can be sold in the world’s largest country. The new announcement from the government now allows foreign companies engaged in the production and sale of gaming entertainment devices to do their gaming related business in China. But as you can expect, there will be some authority that will review the games in accordance with Chinese culture. I guess Microsoft expected this announcement as it started a new entertainment venture in China few months back. Lenovo today announced their successor to the popular Y510 gaming laptop. There are two laptops in the Y-series, the 14-inch Y40 and the 15.6-inch Y50. Both these laptops can be ordered up to 4th generation Intel Core i7 processor, an HDD or SSD, JBL speakers and Dolby Home Theater v4 and runs on Windows 8.1. The Y50 comes with number of optional items such as backlit keyboard, Ultra HD 3840×2160 display or full HD 1920×1080 display with optional touch, NVIDIA GeForce GPU. Now we are clear about the Lenovo’s plans as they have announced the new Yoga 2 devices. Usage share is important one among them and Steam gaming service usage numbers will give us a glimpse of market trend. According to the December month stats from Steam, Windows 8/Windows 8.1 saw a growth to capture about 20% of the usage share among Steam gamers.
