During a Reddit AmA on new Surface devices back in September 2013, Surface team confirmed that they are working on LTE version of Surface devices. Why was LTE not included on neither Surface nor Surface Pro? We didn’t talk about it today, but Surface 2 will be launching an awesome LTE SKU early next year! Looks like the time has come. A Surface device with AT&T LTE has now passed through the FCC which again confirms that we are closer to launch. We can expect the device either in March or April. FCC published the Surface with LTE documents just today and since it comes with confidentiality request, we have very less details on the device. Last week we reported that Amazon Canada’s listing has revealed that Microsoft is planning to release Xbox One Media Remote accessory in March. It will cost around $25USD and will ship on March 4th. Xbox One Media Remote looks simple with minimal design with essential control buttons. You also have a button to switch between apps in Xbox One with Xbox One logo on its top. Today, The Verge reported that Microsoft will officially announce the remote this week(Feb 20th). OneDrive is the same service which you enjoyed as SkyDrive in the past few years, now it has been rebranded due to legal issues. It offers 7GB of free storage space for everyone who signs up. You will also get 3 GB when you connect your camera rolls, 500 MB for users who refer their friends. Microsoft last week announced that they have started the roll-out of February system update for Xbox One customers. As you already know, this update includes several new improvements such as the ability to see and manage your storage space, ability to use your USB keyboard,  and more. Some Xbox One users are reporting on both the Xbox One support forums and Reddit’s Xbox thread that they are facing weird black screen issues. Their screens now go black when they press the Xbox Button on their controllers even though the audio remains alive. This is not like Red Ring of Death, you can bring up your Xbox One by unplugging and replugging your consoles or by doing reset(holding down the power button to reset the machine). Microsoft’s communications platform mainly comprises of two parts, Skype on consumer side and Lync on enterprise side. Microsoft today revealed that its employees have raised a record $113 million for non-profits in 2013. This is a $8 million increase from their last year numbers. Brad Smith, General Counsel and Executive Vice President, Legal & Corporate Affairs, Microsoft said, “Amidst Microsoft’s transformation, the value of community involvement continues to define us as employees.” The $113 million total includes our employees’ cash donations, the company’s matching contributions, and $7.8 million from Microsoft to match volunteer hours logged by our employees. Our volunteer program provides a Microsoft contribution of $17 for every hour spent by our employees. Last year, more than 7,400 employees participated, logging almost 460,000 volunteer hours to help nonprofit groups. This has been growing – enough so that 2014 may well see Microsoft employees contribute half a million hours of volunteer time to help nonprofits thrive.
