According to Metrostorescanner, a 3rd party site tracking Windows Store apps, Windows Store has now exceeded 50,000 app mark. According to that site, Windows Store has exactly 50,341 apps. Windows Store was opened last October and since then the numbers increased constantly every month to reach this level. For a comparison, Apple AppStore has about 300,000 apps optimized for iPad with all leading app names available on the platform. Microsoft secured another win in the preliminary ruling against Google Motorola in the ongoing patent battle. An Administrative Law Judge at the United States ITC announced that Microsoft’s Xbox console doesn’t infringe Google Motorola’s U.S. Patent No. 6,246,862. The patent titled  “sensor controlled user interface for portable communication device” is the only non-standard-essential patent that Google has in this case against Microsoft. So far, Google’s purchase of Motorola for its patents for about $12.5 billion has not paid off in any way. And now Google is in a position to pay royalties to Microsoft for Android patent infringement in exchange of small royalties from Microsoft for standard essential patents related to H.264 and others. Microsoft revealed its new Envisioning Center at its headquarters in Seattle a week before during TechFest. Microsoft Research revealed lots of their projects which were interesting and futuristic. Pocket-lint had a chance to look at the world’s largest 4K TV built by Microsoft. Yes, Microsoft built its own 4K tv which is 120-inch wide. The also released their  2012 Law Enforcement Requests Report. Here is the part of the summary, · First, while we receive a significant number of law enforcement requests from around the world, very few actually result in the disclosure to these agencies of customer content. To be precise, last year Microsoft (including Skype) received 75,378 law enforcement requests for customer information, and these requests potentially affected 137,424 accounts or other identifiers. Only 2.1 percent, or 1,558 requests, resulted in the disclosure of customer content. · It’s insightful, I believe, to look at the governments to whom customer content was disclosed.
