Before Windows 8 got released, there were some discussions about the security model of Windows 8 Modern apps. Microsoft fixed some of those issues. Justin Angel, a well known Microsoft platform developer has blogged about various way to tamper Windows Store apps in a Windows 8 device. According to job listings posted on Microsoft’s site, Bing team is working on  “next-generation of intelligent cloud services for developers on all screen sizes,”.  There is a separate Augmented Reality team within Bing team and they working on Augmented Reality framework and Augmented Reality applications for Windows 8 platform. Mary Jo Foley from ZDNet describes the following on Bing AR team, This AR-focused Bing team is working on everything from camera tracking, to visual and audio recognition, to optical character recognition and translation and vision-based natural-user interfaces…. Microsoft Outlook.com today announced two new features that adds more security to the its e-mail system. The first is complete support for DMARC, a standard that makes it harder for someone to deliver phishing mail to your inbox. And the second is support for Extended Validation Certificates (EV Certificates), which provides a more secure SSL connection when you are using Outlook.com. Microsoft is the first major email service to provide this higher level of safety and security. These features will help prevent hackers from stealing your account information and protect your account from phishing attacks. The lest column provided the regular search results, right column provided the social data integration and the middle column was featured with snapshot where Bing brings relevant information and services, such as maps and restaurant reviews and reservations, which are directly related to your search within the main results page. Today Bing added  people and landmarks as two new categories in snapshot feature. At Passwords^12 conference held last week, Jeremi Gosney, the founder and CEO of Stricture Consulting Group unveiled a GPU computer cluster that can try as many as 350 billion guesses per second. Yes, 350 billion guesses per second! As a result, it can guess a 8 digit password containing upper- and lower-case letters, digits, and symbols in just 5.5 hours. The five-server system uses a relatively new package of virtualization software that harnesses the power of 25 AMD Radeon graphics cards. It achieves the 350 billion-guess-per-second speed when cracking password hashes generated by the NTLM cryptographic algorithm that Microsoft included in every version of Windows since Server 2003. As a result, it can try an astounding 958 combinations in just 5.5 hours, enough to brute force every possible eight-character password containing upper- and lower-case letters, digits, and symbols. Last week Microsoft announced that over 25 million Hotmail users have upgraded to the new Outlook.com experience. Along with the announcement, they also announced few new features that will come to Outlook.com users soon. One such feature is the new Archive button that will allow you to archive emails. This is a new feature in Outlook.com rolling out now and is designed to make it super easy to archive email into whatever folder you want or have Outlook.com create an Archive folder for you. All you need to do is click on any message and then click the “Archive” button at the top (alternatively you can right-click on a message and choose “Archive” too).
