This add shows the new touch capabilities of Windows 8 along with the snap mode and the Sony Vaio Tap 20′s Tilt mode with the ability to move it around without any wires because it has built-in battery. We have seen some marketing like this before from Nokia for its Windows Phone devices. A Portland-based OS development company called Surfcast has filed a patent infringement case against Microsoft. Surfcast sued Microsoft for allegedly infringing on its patents with the use of Live Tiles in its desktop, tablet and mobile software. Patent 6,724,403 (’403): “System and method for simultaneous display of multiple information sources.” The above patent involves the method of “presenting information from variety of sources on a display device.”, ”organizes content from a variety of information sources into grid of tiles each of which can refresh its content independently of the others.”, according to TNW. Being a mobile OS, Android has this only for tablet devices and not for mobile phones. With support for multiple users, you can give each person their own space. At Build Conference held at Microsoft campus, Microsoft announced that all the paid attendees with get a Microsoft Surface for Windows RT with Touch Cover, Nokia Lumia 920 device and 100GB SkyDrive storage for free. Of course, all the developers present at the event went wild while Microsoft made these announcements. Today, Microsoft announced at BUILD keynote that many new high profile apps are coming to Windows 8 platform soon. Microsoft announced that Twitter is working on a Windows Store app that will coming in months ahead. Also Dropbox, PayPal, ESPN, Adobe Reader, etc, are also coming to Windows 8′s Windows Store soon. At BUILD keynote event today, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer announced that 4 million Windows 8 upgraded were sold in the last 4 days. Also he said that laptop sales increased 20% ahead of their estimates. The 4 million number does not include “tens of millions” sold to its OEM partners. In an interview with CNBC, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has said that Microsoft Surface is the product customers always wanted. Today ifixit posted their tear down of Microsoft Surface for Windows RT. Microsoft Surface scored a repairability rating of 4 out of 10 (10 is easiest to repair). Here are the reasons iFixit posted at the end of the process, Several components are modular and replaceable without requiring desoldering. You can remove the battery pretty easily — once you’ve suffered through the opening procedure. It’s pretty difficult to remove the rear panel and gain access to the device. It is impossible to remove the keyboard connector without first removing the display from the frame. LCD and glass are fused together and strongly adhered to the case, increasing cost of replacement. You’ll have to use a heat gun and lots of patience to gain access to the glass and LCD. NVIDIA’s chips powers many devices running Windows 8 and Windows RT. In a recent blog post, NVIDIA discussed about its long standing relationship with Microsoft and the work they did to bring Windows RT running on Tegra 3 processors. Windows RT marks the first time that PCs have been able to take advantage of incredibly efficient ARM-based processors like Tegra 3, enabling two weeks of connected standby time.
