Microsoft today revealed a new product called Project Austin. Its a digital note-taking app for Windows 8. You can use digital ink to write or draw things on those pages, add photos, share the notes you create to other Windows 8 apps such as e-mail or SkyDrive. You can add pages to your notebook, delete them, or move them around. There are different types of papers to choose from and the app looks pretty cool. The team behind this app even said that this project was inspired by Microsoft Courier tablet concept. But you know which division at Microsoft built this app? Microsoft Developer Division. Similar to Asus Windows 8 offerings, Acer’s upcoming Windows 8 devices pricing got revealed today. There will be two main devices, Acer W510 and Acer W700. You can see the pricing for the New Zealand market in the above image. Acer’s Iconia W510 is powered by dual core Intel Atom and 64GB storage starts at $712 USD approximately. Acer’s Iconia W700 will have 128GB SSD storage and powered by a 1.7ghz Intel i5 processor and a 11.6″ full HD display. It will cost $1299 USD approximately. These devices are full Windows 8 powered devices that will be able to run any classic desktop programs and they cost almost same as the equivalent memory Apple iPad. After completing the Global Ortho Project in US last month, Bing Imagery team at Microsoft today announced that they are adding 17 Million SqKm of new satellite imagery to Bing Maps. Global Ortho for Western Europe is on schedule to be completed by the end of CY 2012. Also Bing Imagery team celebrated the completion of GO in US with “Golden Spike” flight. Bing team invited local Colorado chalk artist Jennifer Mosquera to create the biggest Bing logo ever made!  At over 200’ by 90’, the logo may indeed be the biggest Bing ever.  As luck would have it, the ideal spot for the logo in the Golden Spike flight was the top of the parking garage just north of the Bing Maps Imagery Team’s building in downtown Boulder, CO. Microsoft SkyDrive team today announced that they are adding two new features to this web service. First, SkyDrive will now feature Recycle bin similar to our desktop Windows. You can restore files to their respective folders anytime from the Recycle bin. Here is the policy around Recycle bin feature of SkyDrive, Items in the recycle bin do not count against your SkyDrive storage limit. We save all items you delete in the recycle bin for at least 3 days. If the content in your recycle bin gets large enough to exceed 10% of your storage limit (which will be pretty rare), we’ll start to delete the oldest content (after it’s been there 3 days), and will permanently remove items from the recycle bin after they have been there for 30 days (and not restored). Microsoft Office team today detailed the Office for Windows RT version. Microsoft confirmed that Office for Windows RT preview version will be coming along with Windows RT devices that will on sale from Oct-26th. The final version of the same will be available through updates starting early November. Microsoft also revealed that Office for Windows RT is optimized for touch, uses less resources such as memory, CPU and battery. Microsoft today announced that it will start accepting apps for Windows Store from developers around the world. It  is now open for app submissions from all developers – individuals and companies – in over 120 countries. Microsoft has added 82 new app submission markets. Microsoft also announced a number of additional subscription program offerings for developers. All eligible MSDN subscribers receive a free, one-year Windows Store developer account as part of their MSDN benefits. Along with the XPS Duo 12 tablet hybrid, Dell today announced another tablet hybrid called XPS 10. Dell XPS 10 is a Windows RT based machine. Dell has revealed its XPS Duo 12 Windows 8 tablet hybrid at IFA, Berlin. This XPS Duo 12 machine is designed in similar to the Inspiron Duo model which was released  two years back. The display can be rotated 180 to face it upward and use the device as a tablet. Its has a 12.5 inch display, and weighs 1.4kgs.
