Often we come across comparisons of Microsoft Surface with Apple iPad. While both of them are meant to be tablets, Microsoft Surface running Windows RT is much more powerful than an Apple iPad. When you compare recently released Apple iPad Air and Microsoft Surface 2, I think Surface 2 offers lot more value to most of the consumers with full web browser support, USB port and kickstand built-in and more. This fan made video released yesterday shows the capabilities of Surface 2. In this video I show off my favorite features in the Microsoft Surface 2, with windows 8.1 RT. I show off voice control (windows speech recognition), multiple monitor support, and a variety of accessories via USB hub (including external hard drive, mouse, keyboard, and Xbox 360 controller integration). I show how I connect the Surface 2 to my HDTV as well as wireless casting of music and video! ...

Many are not aware of this fact. If you’re a Gmail user, Google scans all of your sent and received messages, extracts keywords that they think are relevant to you, and then uses that data to target you with ads. All email service providers protect your inbox by scanning for spam, phishing attempts and malware, but not all email providers use the words from your email to show you ads. Microsoft is focusing on this point with a new campaign titled “Keep Your Email Private” against Google’s Gmail to protect user’s privacy. Google goes through every Gmail that’s sent or received, looking for keywords so they can target Gmail users with paid ads. And there’s no way to opt out of this invasion of your privacy. Microsoft Bing team started indexing the apps installed on the device to serve you contextually when you search for related queries. With Windows Phone 8, Microsoft introduced a way to surface apps within search results giving a deeper entryway into what you might be trying to accomplish. For example, if you search for  “Angry Birds”, there will be an option to download that app directly from the results. Or when you search for some hotels, there might be some relevant local search apps listed on the search results. In Windows 8.1 Bing Smart Search, Microsoft is moving to another level. With the launch of Windows 8.1 we are expanding this notion with Bing Smart Search. Now when you search we also display deep links of information that might be available in a given app. For example, if you’re searching for New York City we’ll not only show you beautiful full bleed images and top web ...

When Infinity Ward announced that Call of Duty: Ghosts will run only in 720p mode natively on Microsoft’s next generation console Xbox One, there were lots of criticism and comments on the web about the capabilities of Xbox One against Sony PS4. Microsoft downplayed the whole resolution thing, but the media was not ready to leave it. In an interview with Eurogamer, Mark Rubin from Infinity Ward commented the following, What everyone will ask is whether this is the result of the Xbox One simply not being as powerful as the PS4, and you’re doing your best with the hardware you have, or whether for future versions you may be able to get the Xbox One version running natively at 1080p? Mark Rubin: It’s very possible we can get it to native 1080p. I mean I’ve seen it working at 1080p native. It’s just we couldn’t get the frame ...

Both Surface 2 and Surface 2 Pro now features 10.6” ClearType HD(1080p) displays with a 16:9 aspect ratio. Even though the resolution is not high enough to compete with other tablets out there, Microsoft has taken care of other aspects of display to make the viewing experience better. The display on the new devices is gorgeous, and the engineering work to produce gorgeousness isn’t trivial. It requires focus on far more than pixel count – things like size and aspect ratio, optical bonding of the display to the cover glass for reduced reflection, contrast ratio, viewing angles, color depth, gray scale, color reproduction, luminance, and backlight uniformity.
