Following Micromax, another Indian OEM Xolo has announced their first Windows tablet Xolo Win. This new mid-range tablet will run Windows 8 powered by AMD processor. Today Forrester Research published a report in which Microsoft trumped both Samsung and Apple in the consumer mindshare survey. As part of Forrester’s TRUE Brand Compass research, Forrester conducted consumer Technographics research with 4,551 US online adults about the technology brands and their perceptions on it. Following the announcement from Intel regarding their official support for Dual OS device, AMD also confirmed their official support as well. In collaboration with BlueStacks, AMD is taking different approach to provide this Dual OS solution. Instead of switching between OS, AMDs solution is to run Andorid apps within Windows either in full screen or in Windowed mode. So, you can now pin Android apps among Windows Store apps in Start screen. At CES yesterday, Intel officially confirmed their Dual OS project where they will officially support both Windows and Android on a same device. Krzanich stated that Intel is the first microprocessor company to support devices that combine the best of Windows* and Android* operating systems in a single device. Also Intel is working to make the experience of switching between OS as a seamless one. With the push of a button, user will be able to switch to the other OS in few seconds. Asus even announced a new device called Transformer Duet that will have this functionality of running both the OS on the same device. Microsoft and Google should not be happy with this effort from Intel as this will create lots of confusion among consumers. Gartner today released their latest projections on worldwide devices market. Worldwide combined shipments of devices (PCs, tablets, ultramobiles and mobile phones) are projected to reach 2.5 billion units in 2014, a 7.6 percent increase from 2013. As expected, Android will dominate with more than a billion devices. Worldwide shipments of traditional PCs are forecast to total 278 million units in 2014, a seven percent decline from 2013. Driven by an uptake in Windows ultramobiles, the PC market is estimated to remain flat in 2014 (0.2 percent), after a decline of 9.9 percent in 2013. The Gartner consumer survey showed that less than eight per cent of users would replace their laptop with a tablet, while a transfer to an Ultrabook is almost twice this figure. Toshiba Kirabook already had top of the line specs including 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, Intel HD graphics and the 13.3-inch PixelPure display with 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution.
