Microsoft today opened up its Office Store for developers and consumers. Office Apps are web based tools that will become part of Office and will enhance your experience. Users will be able to install apps from Office Store as follows, In the Insert tab of the ribbon choose “Apps for Office” and you’ll see apps from the Office Store. So as expected, Microsoft will share Windows 8 RTM with its PC OEM partners and the general availability of Windows 8 OS and devices running Windows 8 will start from Oct-26th. . Lenovo is planning to release a ThinkPad Windows 8 tablet focusing on its business customers. This tablet will be based on Intel Cloverview Dual Core chip, 2GB RAM  with 10.1-inch 720p IPS display. In Windows 8 Release Preview, Microsoft had only 5 different themes for the Metro start screen experience. With Windows 8 RTM, Microsoft will be providing 20 different themes allowing for more personalization for the users. At Office Next blog today, Microsoft detailed the SkyDrive integration in upcoming Office 2013 suite. One of the main integration is that, SkyDrive is now the default location to save documents. Saving to the cloud offers anywhere access to content through the new Office. This allows users to move from device to device without having to worry where their content (or Office app) resides. We have seen many interesting projects from Microsoft Research in the past, here is an another interesting now. Microsoft Research is working on creating large scale displays. If you want to create a giant HD display, it costs more and its complex to build. For example,  The 2,160-inch HD screen at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, cost $40 million and it has 30 million LED lights at 18 dots per inch involving multiple displays , each controlled by a separate PC. Microsoft’s vX solution involves 15 flatscreen displays with its own unique set of electronics and controlled by one PC. Microsoft today announced that it has completed the acquisition Of Perceptive Pixel, the manufacturer of high performance touch screen displays. At WPC, Steve Ballmer announced that Microsoft will acquire PPI and the deal has been completed now. At the time of Surface announcement months ago, Microsoft said that the Surface tablet will release along with Windows 8.
