As expected, Microsoft today announced the Independent Developers @ Xbox Program which allows independent developers to publish games for Xbox One. First, you have to apply for the developer program. After the application is approved, Microsoft will offer developers free development kits and access to its Xbox One toolset which includes Kinect, Cloud, etc. There is no developer application fees as well. After becoming “registered Xbox One developers,” , developers will be able to do self-publishing of games on Microsoft’s Xbox One. Microsoft today announced the new  Bing’s Hometown Homepage Photo Contest. People have to submit one of their own photos that highlights and capture the beauty of their hometown to the new Bing Homepage App on Facebook between today (August 19) and September 3.  It can be a special landmark, view-point or natural wonder that captures the essence of a town. On September 10, we’ll announce the top ten finalists and fans will be able to vote for their favorite on Facebook. Microsoft today announced that Microsoft Tag service will terminate in two years, on August 19, 2015 and licensing it technology to Scanbuy. Read more about it below. According to latest NPD numbers, Microsoft Xbox 360 has maintained its position as #1 console in the U.S for the 31 consecutive months. Xbox 360 sold 107,000 units which is less than half of what Microsoft sold same time last year. Asus is planning to release a Windows 8 based touch screen laptop called Vivobook X102BA soon. The details of the laptop along with images got leaked yesterday. This device will have a 10.1-inch touchscreen with 1366×768 resolution, powered by AMD A4-1200 processor at 1.0 Ghz and AMD Radeon HD 8180 graphics.   Microsoft has recently revealed that they are closing down the Xbox.com PC Marketplace. Although you will not be able to purchase new games, you can continue to play previously purchased content by downloading it through the Games for Windows Live client software as usual. Also the the Games for Windows Live service will continue to operate as usual. As part of the recent Xbox 360 system update, Microsoft Points will be retired and the Xbox.com PC Marketplace will be closed as of August 22, 2013. Yesterday, we posted some information about the upcoming Nokia Windows RT tablet. We reported that the device is coming to AT&T in Cyan color. Today, images of red colored Nokia Windows RT tablet for Verizon got leaked on to the web. Windows RT branding confirms that it is a Windows RT device as opposed to x86 based Windows 8 device.
