  As expected, Microsoft is already exploring the ways to navigate Windows using Kinect gestures. Even though Kinect had a official Windows SDK for a longtime, Microsoft never showed off a way to navigate Windows using air gestures. Today, The Verge revealed that Microsoft Research is already exploring the potential use of it. Despite having received “hundreds” of applications for its Xbox One Indie developer program, Microsoft is not expecting Indie games to be available on Xbox One store at its launch in November. Microsoft corporate vice president Phil Harrison told Games Industry International that Microsoft is expecting indie games in early 2014. “I don’t think it’s realistic to see a developer get the program and build a game and get it into the market on November 22,” Harrison said. “It’s reasonable to expect in early 2014 we’ll start seeing the first games come through.” He also revealed that Titanfall is turning into the huge megahit that they expected it to be and they are happy with the launch line-up of games. ...

There were few reports in the past that indicated Microsoft is planning to release a smaller version of Surface tablet this year. At Surface event held few days back, Microsoft only announced Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 tablets. Microsoft is expected to announce 8-inch version of Surface later this year which will also start shipping before end of this year. It seems Microsoft has no plans to bring its Xbox One console to China anytime soon. Shanghai media company BesTV New Media Co., Ltd, revealed that it has plans for an entertainment development venture with Microsoft. BesTV will  hold a 51 percent share and Microsoft will hold 49 percent in the joint venture, initially planned to be known as E-Home Entertainment Development. The joint venture will develop games and related services, said BesTV. The new company’s board chairman will be chosen by BesTV and the chief executive officer by Microsoft. The total investment of both sides will reach 237 million U.S. dollars. The joint venture is expected to be registered in the newly established pilot free trade zone in Shanghai.
