Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) is a new bill that is going to be passed in USA government that will reduce online piracy. Even though it sounds good many web 2.0 companies like Facebook, Google, etc are opposing the bill to safeguard themselves from content owners. They even posted a full page ad on The New York  Times about their opposition to SOPA. But what about technology companies like Microsoft, Apple ??  They are indirectly supporting SOPA through their Business Software Alliance. In a news release from October, BSA wrote: The Business Software Alliance today commended House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith (R-Texas) for introducing the “Stop Online Piracy Act” (H.R. 3261) to curb the growing rash of software piracy and other forms of intellectual property theft that are being perpetrated by illicit websites.
