Microsoft yesterday announced that they are developing a new original compiler over the last two years and the early results with this new compiler core were so positive that they are now planning to grow this core into the new TypeScript compiler and language service. The good news is that  the new compiler follows the same TypeScript 1.0 language spec, has the same compiler flags and compiler functionality, and outputs nearly identical code to the currently shipping TypeScript compiler. Microsoft said that when this development is complete, the new compiler should be drop-in compatible with the existing one. Microsoft believes that this new compiler has much cleaner compiler architecture that has better performance and allows them to add new features with greater ease in releases to come. Microsoft yesterday announced that Azure Active Directory SDKs for iOS and Android have reached General Availability and available for download. In addition to that, Microsoft has added support for OS X for Mountain Lion and above. All these SDKs are also open source, so you can participate in the development process as we build these libraries. A few months ago we released previews of these SDKs. They allowed you to easily add Work Accounts support to your existing Android and iOS apps. A Work Account is an identity you use to get work done no matter if at your business or on a college campus. At the O’Reilly Open Source Convention (OSCON), Microsoft announced their partnerships with Packer.io and OpenNebula to enable interoperability of applications and services with Windows Azure and Hyper-V. Similarly, last week Microsoft announced their work on Docker’s libswarm project and Kubernetes, two cluster-management solutions available for Docker containers, and several other open source cloud projects. Microsoft today announced that Google Chrome users can now enjoy Bing Search box on Chrome new tab pages. When you are using Chrome with default search engine set to Bing, you will get quick access to the Bing search box (and associated Page Zero features) as well as the frequently used sites you’re used to in the new Tab page. In the last couple of weeks, we have been reporting about leaked Windows 9/Threshold builds with their build numbers. Today, screenshots of the Windows Threshold build got leaked on the web. It includes the much awaited Start Menu which doesn’t differ much from what we have seen in the past. Also present in the new build is the Windowed modern apps that will act as a boon to Desktop users who wants use Modern apps with ease. Back in June, Microsoft first revealed Azure ML will be available as public preview in July. Azure ML allows organizations to create new solutions that bring together big data insights, the Internet of things and predictive analytics. In current scenario, machine learning is usually self-managed and on premises, requiring the training and expertise of data scientists. Since, data scientists are in short supply, commercial software licenses can be expensive and popular programming languages for statistical computing have a steep learning curve, Microsoft has come up with  Azure ML. After China, now Russian government is trying to reduce the reliance on Microsoft and other US based tech companies in governmental agencies. The reason seems to be the same security issues cited by China. They fear that the backdoors and bugs in software will allow suppliers access to confidential data. Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Microsoft, Cisco Systems, Oracle and SAP had combined revenue of $8.1 billion from Russia last year, and if Russia is going to move forward with their current plans, then these companies may get affected on sales. The State Duma, Russia’s lower house of parliament, is drafting a bill to require government agencies and state-run enterprises to give preference to local providers of software and hardware, according to a document from the commission for strategic information systems obtained by Bloomberg News.
