Microsoft earlier announced that Xbox One console will be available in Japan starting this September. Sony made PS4 available in Japan in February earlier this year. Microsoft today announced that the Xbox One game console will be available in Japan with the Kinect sensor for 49,980 Yen and without Kinect for 39,980 Yen which is same as the same prices as Sony’s PS4. In April, Games continued to be the most popular category for all devices, followed by other categories with significant download share including Entertainment, Social, Music & Videos, and Tools On Windows, like our previous trends updates, Social is the #1 category with nearly 2x average downloads per app than the second category. This is a bad news for PC market as a whole because the sales continues to decline in India, which is one of the largest developing economies. According to the International Data Corporation. the overall India PC shipments for Q1 2014 stood at 2.03 million units, representing a year-on-year drop of -25.2% over Q1 2013. The overall Commercial PC segment recorded a total shipments of 1.02 million units, showing a marginal increase of 4.1% sequentially over Q4 2013.  Kiran Kumar, Research Manager of Client Devices at IDC India comments, “The overall Commercial PC market showed first signs of improvement over the last 9-10 months as investment activities have improved in the Banking and Government verticals. A security research firm has exposed the Outlook.com Android mobile app does not do anything to ensure confidentiality of messages and attachments within the phone filesystem itself. The application we’re discussing here is Outlook.com free email service’s mobile client offered by Microsoft. This app is described as being created by Seven Networks in conjunction or in association with Microsoft (i.e. looks like it was outsourced.) The app allows users to access their Outlook.com email on Android devices. In the course of our research we found that the on-device email storage doesn’t really make any effort to ensure confidentiality of messages and attachments within the phone filesystem itself. Microsoft last month announced that they are launching Xbox One in China in September. Thanks to the partnership with BesTV, Xbox One will also be the first system of its kind to launch in China. Launching Xbox One in China is a significant milestone both Microsoft and for the industry. Today, Sony made a similar announcement that they are launching PS4 in China. Sony’s will also be working with a local company called Shanghai Oriental Pearl Culture Development.
