If you saw the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 announcement, you should have realized that Microsoft has moved away from the consumer focused Surface Pro pitch. During that announcement, Microsoft revealed that lots of businesses are showing lots of interest in Surface Pro 3. While we’ve kept Surface Pro 3 largely under wraps ahead of this announcement, we did show it to a few companies who wanted a tablet that could take the place of laptops. We were blown away by the interest, and are excited to have BMW Group, The Coca-Cola Company and LVMH – Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton seeing it as a core device for them. The annual Information Sector report from the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) was released today. In general, customers are more satisfied with the with telecommunication services and technologies than they were a year ago. But, the customer satisfaction with computer software for desktops and laptops continues to fall. Microsoft and the aggregate of smaller software makers both backslide 1% to 74 and 76, respectively. Customer satisfaction with computer software manufactured for desktops and laptops stabilizes at an ACSI score of 76. The aggregate of small software makers including Intuit (TurboTax), Adobe (Acrobat), and multiple antivirus programs takes a slight 1% gain to 77. Likewise. Microsoft, the largest individual software manufacturer, experiences an incremental gain to 75. These upticks, however, are not enough to Impact the industry as a whole. Chinese government today made a strange move by announcing the ban of Microsoft’s Windows 8 OS in government computers. As per reports, the ban is due to the notice on the use of energy-saving products. The official Xinhua news claims that it was due to security concerns. It is not yet clear on what exactly is the cause of Windows 8 ban. The Central Government Procurement Center issued the ban on installing Windows 8 on government computers as part of a notice on the use of energy-saving products, posted on its website last week. The official Xinhua news agency said the ban was to ensure computer security after Microsoft ended support for its Windows XP operating system, which was widely used in China. UK based developer Rare Studios is the creative brain behind popular Kinect based titles such as Kinect Sports, Kinect Sports: Season Two and Kinect Sports Rivals still remains an important part of Microsoft despite Microsoft’s decision to unbundle Kinect from Xbox One.
