Microsoft announced yesterday that their next generation console Xbox One is launching in November this year. Only 21 markets around the world will have launch this year and other countries will have this device in a staged roll-out process. Microsoft today updated their Bing desktop app with many new features. Microsoft also revealed that more than 10 million people are using Bing desktop app worldwide. Microsoft is already selling Xbox hardware console at discounted prices by bundling up with yearly Xbox LIVE gold subscriptions in US. According to the recent reports from MCV UK, Microsoft is planning to sell Xbox One at discounted prices by bundling them with Sky TV subscriptions in UK. Sources familiar with the situation tell us that Microsoft is in talks with the broadcaster to sell Xbox One with Sky subscriptions. WSJ reported few months back that Microsoft is planning to cut the Windows price it charges the OEMs to increase the sales. At Computex event held in Taiwan, Microsoft’s OEM division head Nick Parker has confirmed about the price cuts, but it is only applicable for tablets/PCs that are less than 10.1 inches in size. According to WSJ, Microsoft is cutting by two-thirds the cost to license Windows and Office software, or roughly $100 before marketing rebates Microsoft offers to PC makers. Microsoft today confirmed that they will be releasing Windows 8.1 preview on June 26th during BUILD conference. If you are planning to upgrade from your current Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 preview, you need to be careful. Because, you will have to re-install all the apps you have installed on your PC after upgrading Windows 8.1 to final version which will be released later this year. According to the study conducted by Center for Sustainable Energy Systems at Fraunhofer USA Inc., Internet Explorer continues to be the most energy-efficient browser on Windows 8. The study concluded that compared to Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer uses up to 18% power. Internet Explorer 10 exhibited the lowest energy consumption. In some scenarios such as playing Adobe Flash video on laptop PCs, it was 18% more energy efficient than Google Chrome, and it was 17% more efficient than Mozilla Firefox in playing HTML5 video. To put that in perspective,  if every Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox user in the United States switched to Internet Explorer 10 on Windows 8 for a year, the energy saved could power over 10,000 households in the United States for that year. During Microsoft’s keynote at Computex, Microsoft announced that Outlook 2013 is coming to Windows RT devices as part of Windows 8.1 update later this year. Antoine Leblond, corporate vice president of Windows program management joined Tami Reller at Microsoft’s keynote at Computex Taipei 2013 to demo the first public reveal of the upcoming Windows 8.1 update.
