Ballmer On Surface Competitors: “Nobody has a product that lets you work and play”

In an interview with CNBC, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has said that Microsoft Surface is the product customers always wanted. He also said that Microsoft Surface competitors such as Apple, Amazon and Google does not provide a work and play experience as Surface does.

“I don’t think anybody has done a product that is the product that I see customers wanting,”

“You can go through the products from all those guys … and none of them has a product that you can really use. Not Apple. Not Google. Not Amazon. Nobody has a product that lets you work and play that can be your tablet and your PC. Not at any price point.

“This is a first-class tablet that people can enjoy and appreciate,”

“It’s a PC; it’s a tablet. It’s for play; it’s for work. It’s a got a great price. That product doesn’t exist today.”

Balmer is on point. This is what will displace the iPad and ALL others that never really took off anyway, given that the most requested app on the iPad is MS Office. Now they get it in a tablet with great hardware and a cover that doubles as a keyboard/touchpad (it is a cover first though (and its optional), even though people ask “why does MS feel the need to sell it with a keyboard”). Great tablet OS, WinRT (this is also something else people need to understand, it is similar to the iPad since they both run tablet OSes that are not designed to run full desktop apps).

Now, in order to make it happen they have to NOT release Office for iOS otherwise, alot of users will stick to those alternate platforms.

Its true and I speak from hands on experience having received my Surface this past Friday at 11:30am by Fedex. There already thousands of app by time I recieved my Surface. the games and apps were fun and intuitive. then I had to make a one page voting quick sheet copied from a website and condensed in MS Word. I smoothly plugged in my bluetooth mouse for easier Word edit, finally the RT found and printed wirelessly to my Kodak printer without hitch. Work and Play indeed!

You can do work with an iPad, but it’s a huge hassle.
