Bloomberg confirms Xbox Next plans for fall 2013

Citing the usual “people familiar with the company’s plans”, Bloomberg has confirmed Microsoft is planning to release a follow-up to the popular Xbox 360 console by Black Friday next year.

They did not expand on the features of the new console, but earlier leaks suggests the device will have a newer version of the Kinect sensor and the ability to play Blu-ray disks.

Apparently Microsoft is still deciding between whether to announce the console at E3 or in a separate event.

Bloomberg did not comment on rumours of the so-called Xbox Mini, which would be more streaming media and less games orientated.

Nice!! looking forward to it. Loving that they are also focusing it on delivering every media need to your television.
If the mini did come out, i would definately buy it. Mainly to replace that old raggy dvd player, and possibly the cable box as well. Well done MS! well done!
Wow, i have never been so excited for a gaming system.

Also i call shots on the console being named Xbox Infinity, it has been thrown around, but if you turn 8 on its side its equal to the ininity simbol.I think its a cool name! thoughts?

That’s funny. I wanted Windows 8 to be named Windows Infinity.

The sooner the better. I hope we get a world wide release with no stock shortages like the Nokia 920 debacle. Been waiting for a new Xbox for a few years now.

they should design at least one version of it to appeal to non-gamers. It should be marketed as a multimedia device, in fact.

I know they’re probably right but “Bloomberg confirms …”? Are they now the PRs for Microsoft? Boy, this world is getting screwy, every day little bit more! :)

I don’t mind a new XBOX – just hope they don’t leave the 360 behind. Had mine for a while now and it still feels like the device hasn’t lived up to its potential yet … !

I hope my existing Kinect works with it. I’m not going to spend money on another.

Interesting. I might actually get it. If they start taking downloads seriously, plus have a good sized hard drive. That’s why I’m waiting on the Wii U, I want more storage and the flaws to be fixed. But this is great news. I’m all ready thinking of getting an Xbox 360 in a couple months time, after my birthday just to play Halo 4. haha Might end up getting two Xbox’s in the same year. I’m crazy. XD
