Microsoft today detailed the Bing apps that will be available for users to install on their new Office 2013 suite. In new Office, Microsoft has introduced a way for 3rd party developers to create apps for Office suite using web technologies. Microsoft’s Bing has released five Bing Apps for Office including: Bing Finance for Excel, Bing Maps for Excel, Bing Image Search for Word, Bing News Search for Word and Bing Dictionary for Excel and Word. LikeBright is based in Seattle and it uses an innovative approach to online dating by using the power of social instead of endless questionnaires and interactions. comScore released its monthly comScore qSearch analysis of the U.S. search marketplace few days back. In December, 69.1% of searches carried results from Google, while 25.6% of searches were powered by Bing. It is important to note that Bing powered searches were up 0.2% percentage points. Microsoft Bing today announced the new improved Image search experience. Microsoft updated its Bing Image search experience with new look few months back and now they are improving it even further. The new design brings a new image viewer that allows you to browse images with fast and ease in a clean UI. We completely redesigned the image viewer, putting the spotlight on the picture and stripping out anything that got in the way. We “dimmed the lights” around the photo, adding a darker look that makes it easier on the eyes and lets your results shine in high definition. A new streamlined design for our social sidebar feature making it easier to find people who are relevant to your search based on what they’ve shared, blogged or tweeted about. Microsoft scored a small victory by displacing Google Maps in NORAD’s seasonal Santa tracker, which has been tracking the crimson present distributor for the the last 50 years. For the last 4 years Google has been providing the maps for the service, but this year Bing and Windows Azure will be powering NORAD’s tracking service. This may explain the presence of Windows Phone 8 and Windows 8 apps specifically to keep an eye on Santa’s movement. NORAD declined to give a reason for the change, but one suspects it may have something to do with Google increasing API fees for their mapping products. According to job listings posted on Microsoft’s site, Bing team is working on  “next-generation of intelligent cloud services for developers on all screen sizes,”.  There is a separate Augmented Reality team within Bing team and they working on Augmented Reality framework and Augmented Reality applications for Windows 8 platform. Mary Jo Foley from ZDNet describes the following on Bing AR team, This AR-focused Bing team is working on everything from camera tracking, to visual and audio recognition, to optical character recognition and translation and vision-based natural-user interfaces…. The lest column provided the regular search results, right column provided the social data integration and the middle column was featured with snapshot where Bing brings relevant information and services, such as maps and restaurant reviews and reservations, which are directly related to your search within the main results page.
