Earlier this week,  we reported that HP has recently started promoting on its homepage on sale of Windows 7 PCs.With a huge marketing message “Back on popular demand”, HP was trying to sell a 5 year old OS to its customers. It raised lots of discussions and criticisms on HP and Windows 8. Today, HP clarified its stand on this issue through its official blog. The reason they are still selling Windows 7 PCs are because they want to give choice to consumers. Also, they confirmed that they are not dropping Windows 8 and pointed out that all Windows 7 PCs that are on sale are also available with Windows 8. Microsoft released Windows 8 back in 2012, followed by major update Windows 8.1 in 2013. Microsoft has even ended the sales of Windows 7 as a standalone OS to general consumers. Most of the PCs from all the OEMs now comes with Windows 8/Windows 8.1 pre-installed. Sharp has announced a new 15.6-inch Windows 8.1 tablet called RW-16G1. It is powered by Intel Core i5-4200U CPU, 4GB of RAM and 128GB SSD. The main highlight of the machine is the 3200X1800 QHD+ IGZO display. As you expect, it is also a touchscreen with stylus support. Its a 2.7-pound, 0.5-inch thick tablet and it offers a battery life of upto 9 hours. It also includes a Mini DisplayPort, 3 USB 3.0 ports and a SD card slot. AMD today announced the availability of its next generation APUs codenamed Kaveri from today. This is the first time AMD has included heterogeneous system architecture support in its APU. The chip is based on new generation of Steamroller CPU which offers great efficiency. AMD A10-7000 Series APU, codenamed “Kaveri”. These new processors pack an all-new architecture, including HSA features, Radeon™ R7 graphics and AMD TrueAudio technology. AMD is also claiming that this new APU offer better performance over comparable Intel counterparts. Also, the top end AMD APU costs about $180 while Intel Core i5 processor costs around $240, so there is a significant price advantage for AMD too. Toshiba Kirabook, one of the premium Windows Ultrabooks  that available last year got its internals refreshed today. Toshiba Kirabook already had top of the line specs including 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, Intel HD graphics and the 13.3-inch PixelPure display with 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution.
