As part of the agreement, Skullcandy and ASTRO Gaming will develop several new products including branded headsets, speaker tags and more in support of the latest releases within the Halo universe. When Microsoft announced that they will be giving away Windows OS for free to OEMs developing devices with less than 9-inches, we realized that they are serious about getting tablet market share. Microsoft aimed to decrease the Windows tablet price by removing the Windows licensing for OEMs. At COMPUTEX, a Chinese OEM called Emdoor has announced EM-i8080 Windows tablet. This Emdoor EM-i8080 will cost just $100! Yes, $100 for a full Windows tablet. At Computex, Nick Parker, Microsoft corporate vice president, demonstrated the latest Windows hardware devices which will be available in new lower price points and new markets. For the first time, Microsoft revealed Toshiba’s upcoming 7” Encore tablet. This will be one of the first 7-inch Windows device that will come to market. The tablet is being co-developed by Microsoft and Toshiba and in close collaboration with Intel, Goodix and AMI. It will be available in the coming months at a value-driven price point. Microsoft also highlighted that the pricing will be very competitive with any other 7” class device. My prediction is that it will be around $150. At COMPUTEX, Intel revealed more information about their next gen Core product codenamed Broadwell. It will be the first 14-nanometer chip from Intel. To demonstrate it, Intel revealed the world’s first 14nm fanless mobile PC reference design from Intel is a 12.5 inch screen that is 7.2mm thin with keyboard detached and weighs 670 grams. It is based on the first of Intel’s next-generation 14nm Broadwell processors, purpose-built for 2 in 1s and will be in market later this year. The new ASUS Transformer Book Flip was announced today which also comes with hinge design that enables the screen to be set at any angle between zero and 360 degrees. At COMPUTEX, Asus today announced Transformer Book T300 Chi claiming to be the “world’s thinnest 12.5-inch detachable tablet.” This will compete directly against recently announced Microsoft Surface Pro 3. It is a 12.5-inch tablet with a 2,560 x 1,440 touch screen display, built-in LTE and “next-generation” Intel Core processors and comes with an keyboard dock. It is just 14.3mm (0.56 inch) with the dock and 7.3mm (0.29 inch) thick for just the tablet which is impressive than a Surface Pro 3. The only bad news is that Asus is not providing any availability and pricing details for now.
