At Mobile World Congress today, HP announced a new business focused mid-range Windows tablet called ProPad 600. This business focused Windows tablet comes with a 10.1-inch  1,920 x 1,200, optically bonded display that supports pen input. Also the build quality is down to plastic from aluminum and the CPU is 64-bit Intel Baytrail chip. The device will also sport 8MP camera on the back, 2MP camera on the front and Micro-HDMI support as well. The device will also come with a microSD slot and a standard micro-USB port for charging. Since it is a mid-range device, there is no option for LTE Radio and there is no support for HP Smart Jackets as well. The device will hit the market in April 2nd – 3rd week.   ...

HP already has a business focused Windows tabled called ElitePad 900 with last gen specs. Today at MWC, HP announced the successor to ElitePad 900 called ElitePad 1000. HP ElitePad 1000 follows the same design language of ElitePad 900 with aluminum design. But the internals are now update to offer better performance. It now features Intel 64-bit Bay Trail CPU and full HD screen. It now features a USB 3.0 port instead of USB 2.0. Also, it features LTE radio as well. The device will be available in March starting $739. Due to the launch of Windows 8 in late October having a slower start than anticipated, overall PC sales did not show an increase, but in fact showed a drop in the final quarter of 2012 according to IDC and Gartner.  In an interview with Bloomberg, HP Executive Vice President Todd Bradley admitted the fact that Windows 8 had ‘a slower start than many people expected’.  However, he indicated that sales have started to improve for 2013, ‘we see continued momentum and continued growth’ in January.  Adduplex’s online statistics displayed HP PC’s had the most penetration of all the competition, commanding 32% of the over 7,500 types of PC’s that have the Windows 8 operating system.  In the hope of increasing the overall number of PC sales, HP launched a number of new Windows 8-specific PC’s in late October and early November alongside the launch of the OS and the ...

Presumably in an effort to show buyers how a new Windows 8 device will fit into their life, HP has produced a new series of videos showing the devices used by rather dynamic people in the real world. In the above video we have HP asked Michael Daube, executive director at CITTA, trying the HP ENVY x2. The video interestingly portrays the device as Laptop Plus, rather than a tablet with a keyboard, which in the early stages may be the best way to sell a Windows 8 hybrid. HP will not support you if you load Windows 7 on the HP Envy X2 In their support documentation HP has made it clear they will not be supporting downgrading from Windows 8 to Windows 7, including supplying drivers, apps or other content for these PCs or laptops. They warn: HP does not recommend downgrading on any HP consumer desktop and notebook products. After October 26, 2012, HP consumer desktop and notebook products will ship only with Windows 8. Windows 7 will not be supported on these new platforms, and no drivers, apps, or Windows 7 content will be available through HP.
