I guess Microsoft should be pretty confident on their E3 announcements. Because, they are continuing to make major announcements every other week despite the fact that E3 event is just a week away. Microsoft today revealed that their next installment in their flagship racing series Forza Horizon 2 is in development for Xbox One and Xbox 360 and due for release this fall. Previously, Forza Horizon was released for Xbox 360 and Forza Motorsport 5 for Xbox One. This Forza Horizon 2 will be available on both the platforms and it is being developed by Horizon 1 studio Playground Games collaborating closely with the Motorsport team at Turn 10 Studios. COMPUTEX Taipei is a computer expo held annually in Taipei, Taiwan and lots of ODMs, component suppliers, etc, from around the world meet to share their latest work. According to market research firm Canalys, Microsoft is now at 4th place in the UK tablet market with their Surface devices. Apple, Samsung and Amazon are above them and Google Nexus devices is following them in sales. Microsoft sold 71,540 units in the quarter, up 27.1 per cent on a year earlier, to grab a 3.3 per cent market share. Out of which, 58 per cent of these units were of the ARM-powered RT version with the Surface Pro devices comprising the rest. Canalys senior analyst Tim Coulling reckons channel partners helped Microsoft shift more devices, but added that weakness in consumer spending was hitting the Surface less dramatically than others. “There is more of a commercial opportunity for Surface,” he told The Channel, “plus Microsoft has a channel programme and is putting units into Authorised Device Resellers (ADRs)”. During Build developer conference last month, Microsoft announced the launch of beta version of status.modern.ie which included a first peek at features in development for the next version of Internet Explorer. Today, they announced the launch of final version of Status.ie with new features. Also, they have open sourced the status.ie development, Open Sourced – the data in status.modern.IE is useful for many purposes and many developers have expressed an interest in contributing to the project. You’ll be able to watch two very bright minds as they work together to achieve positive results in a YouTube series that launches June 2. The challenge is on: “Pencils of Promise” founder Adam Braun believes schools are the future, and education reformer Sugata Mitra thinks they’re obsolete. But the two are joining together in The Work Wonders Project to collaborate on ways to revolutionize education, including using Office 365 to do it.
