Microsoft has today announced the Work Wonders Project, a video series that explores the power of technology and collaboration powered by Office 365. You’ll be able to watch two very bright minds as they work together to achieve positive results in a YouTube series that launches June 2. The challenge is on: “Pencils of Promise” founder Adam Braun believes schools are the future, and education reformer Sugata Mitra thinks they’re obsolete. But the two are joining together in The Work Wonders Project to collaborate on ways to revolutionize education, including using Office 365 to do it. Microsoft earlier announced that Xbox One console will be available in Japan starting this September. Sony made PS4 available in Japan in February earlier this year. Microsoft today announced that the Xbox One game console will be available in Japan with the Kinect sensor for 49,980 Yen and without Kinect for 39,980 Yen which is same as the same prices as Sony’s PS4. Phil Spencer commented the following regarding Xbox One launch in Japan, “The Japanese development community remains incredibly important to us, and we’re continuing to invest there,”-“We’re having great conversations with people. Last week, we reported that Sony’s PS4 dominated the Xbox One for the fourth month in a row. New numbers from NPD revealed that Microsoft only sold 115,000 units of their Xbox One console for the month of April. Also, Microsoft announced a new cheaper SKU for Xbox One that will not include Kinect sensor and will cost $399 which is same as that of Sony’s PS4. Microsoft’s this move was to directly compete with Sony on price and it seems that it may work out as expected. Speaking to Develop-Online, Carl Ledbetter, Sr. Principal Creative Director in Xbox team at Microsoft revealed that Microsoft once considered building Kinect directly into Xbox One console. As the man who designed the hardware, Carl Ledbetter, tells Develop, early on Microsoft even toyed with the idea of building the Kinect into the Xbox One itself. A permanent, non-removable feature. And one of the key reasons it decided against it were based on looks. “We actually built models of that,” he reveals. “We pushed ourselves, can we put it all in one? Is that going to work? Microsoft yesterday revealed that “Microsoft Cookbook” has won the third Gourmand World Cookbook award. It won this time in the Corporate category at the event held in Wednesday in Beijing. The cookbook, comprised of recipes from Microsoft employees around the world, also won for best Publisher/Printing, and tied for best Charity/Fundraising cookbook in 2013. The “Microsoft Cookbook” is as much an art book for the coffee table as it is a receptacle for recipes with eye-catching photography front and center. Lenovo today announced its results for fourth fiscal quarter ended March 31, 2014. Lenovo maintained its number one position in PCs, adding 2.1% of market share to post a record 17.7 percent total share for the full-year, while the industry saw a decline of 8 percent during this same period. Lenovo’s laptop PC business worldwide in the Q4 increased 16% year-over-year to US$4.8 billion and Lenovo’s desktop PC shipment grew 6.8 percent worldwide year-over-year, against an industry decline of 3.1 percent worldwide. Another important milestone for Lenovo is that they have surpassed Apple to take the number three position in PC shipments in the fourth quarter in the US for the first time.
