David Pann, general manager for Microsoft’s Search Network today blogged about the performance of Microsoft Bing Ads and their future. Microsoft revealed that clicks on Bing ads are up 30% from a year ago, and mobile ad clicks jumped 133%. Microsoft cited no.of new features they added over the past few months such as the new Call Extensions, product ads and new ad formats. Microsoft also promised advertisers that they will be able to manage 1 million keywords by year-end as opposed to the current limitation of 100,000 and also offer ad performance reports in under a half-hour as opposed to the current 4 hours delay. Finally, Microsoft also said that they are 200% committed to Yahoo partnership. Microsoft and AOL today announced a deal in which Microsoft will distribute AOL original videos across its MSN and Bing properties. The content which is on AOL On video site like AOL’s HuffPost Live, TechCrunch and Moviefone as well as its partner sites, including ESPN, TMZ, and Martha Stewart will be features in Microsoft’s properties. For now, Microsoft will sell the ads for the videos, and AOL will share ad revenue. The content will include AOL’s library of nearly 900,000 videos, all 15 AOL On channels and original series expected to launch next week. With MSN reaching about 450 million users and Bing apps on Windows/Windows Phone platforms reaching tens of millions of users, AOL videos will get a significant viewers boost with this deal. Microsoft today announced that they are selling their 50% stake in Ninemsn online venture which was formed back in 1997. As part of the agreement, Nine’s new venture Mi9 will continue to maintain the ninemsn site and whereby Mi9 will continue to represent Microsoft’s suite of advertising products on ninemsn. This is not a surprise move from Microsoft given that they are looking to offload media assets like MSN around the world. New reports emerged today saying that Microsoft is cutting the number of contractors who work at MSN. The move was as a result of the reorganization within Microsoft which was announced in July. Microsoft confirmed that MSN full-time employees are not affected and in fact they are planning to increase the FTE count at MSN. There are “lots of increased investments going on,” said Brian MacDonald, corporate vice president of Microsoft’s Apps, Media and Publishing group, which includes MSN and Bing Apps. “We are increasing the full time staffing and permanent spend by converting some vendor dollars. “Total dollars spent in the Puget Sound area is increasing on MSN and the Bing apps,” he said. “This is a line item budget shift but absolutely not a spend reduction for cost savings.” There is no clear information on how many full-time employees are to be recruited and how many contractors who worked at MSN ...

Microsoft and NBC today announced that they are ending a 15 year old partnership to run MSNBC digital network. The MSNBC.com will be now known as NBCNews.com and will be operated by NBC as a whole. Its been reported that NBC paid over $300 million for Microsoft on this deal. Also end of this deal will allow Microsoft to curate contents from other news sources for its MSN portal.
