Nokia today announced that their HERE group CEO Michael Halbherr has decided to leave Nokia to pursue his own entrepreneurial interests. While Microsoft has completed the transition and restructuring after acquiring Nokia’s Devices and Services unit, seems like Nokia haven’t settled yet. Since Michael is leaving, Nokia will now begin a search for a new leader of HERE both inside and outside the organization. In the meantime, Cliff Fox, currently SVP of Core Map Group at HERE will assume the position of acting CEO. “It has been a pleasure and honor to work with remarkable and smart people during my time at Nokia and HERE,” said Michael, who joined Nokia after the Finnish group acquired his Berlin-based location software company Gate5 in 2006. As part of the massive layoffs Microsoft announced last month, thousands of former Nokia factory workers will be losing the job. Last week, hundreds of Chinese employees from  Nokia factories protested against Microsoft’s decision on mass layoffs. The participated employees posted pictures showing their protest on social media networks as well. The protest took place at former Nokia Beijing research center and factory employing 2,400 people. Today, MarketWatch reported that Microsoft is giving free Nokia Lumia 630 devices to up to 300 employees per day if they apply for the company’s volunteer resignation package. And it is being offered under first come, first serve basis. As part of the reorganizations and layoffs announced today, Microsoft has decided to stop developing the MixRadio service it acquired from Nokia. However, the good thing Microsoft is doing is to spin-off MixRadio from Microsoft so that it could operate as independent company. Currently, MixRadio depends on the revenue from the devices pre-loaded with MixRadio.
