Microsoft yesterday announced that Azure Active Directory SDKs for iOS and Android have reached General Availability and available for download. In addition to that, Microsoft has added support for OS X for Mountain Lion and above. All these SDKs are also open source, so you can participate in the development process as we build these libraries. As announced last month, Microsoft has doubled the free storage for OneDrive users to 15GB from 7GB, and Office 365 subscribers will get 1 TB of OneDrive storage up from 20GB. To support this change, Microsoft has added another 10 petabytes of capacity to OneDrive via Microsoft Azure. New and existing personal OneDrive accounts will come with: 15 GB of free storage (up from 7 GB) 1 TB of additional OneDrive storage with an Office 365 Home/Personal/University subscription (up from 20 GB) The option to buy additional storage at much lower prices, starting at 100 GB for $1.99 per month. Microsoft yesterday highlighted yet another customer win for Office 365. Gamestop, which is a rapidly growing Fortune 500 and S&P 500 company with more than 6,000 stores has adopted Office 365 for communicating with their employees from thousands of stores. The GameStop retail portal is built on Microsoft SharePoint Online. GameStop plans to provide targeted views of the portal so that employees in different job roles can quickly see the information that specifically applies to them. GameStop adopted a retail portal that runs using Microsoft SharePoint Online in Microsoft Office 365. Microsoft Office team today announced their plans to scale up the limits for Public Folders in Office 365. They announced that the folder count limit has been increased to 100,000 folders, a 10x increase over the prior limit as defined in the Exchange service description limits. Microsoft believes that this increase in limit will enable migration of larger existing public folder hierarchies and increased use of the feature in Office 365. As this is a cloud based feature, customers can immediately take advantage of this new scale for public folders. Box, a leading cloud storage and collaboration startup has today announced a new set of integrations between Box and Microsoft for customers using Office 365. Box expects that these integrations will provide secure, mobile collaboration and content management that’s tightly tied to where users are creating content, including: Box for Office 2013 Desktop: Users can easily open, edit, share and save any file from Box seamlessly within Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. After the great success of Office 365 Open program, Microsoft today announced the new Microsoft Cloud Solution Provider program at the Worldwide Partners Conference held today. As part of this program, Microsoft’s partners will be able to directly provision customer subscriptions and provide one monthly bill for both Partner and Microsoft services. It will also allow them to directly manage their customer subscriptions with in-product tools in the Partner Admin Center and own the technical support relationship. The new program will open up interesting opportunities for our partners including distributors, MSPs, ISVs and hosting providers to package their solutions with Microsoft cloud offerings. Beginning with Office 365 and Windows Intune, the Cloud Solution Provider program will be rolled out to select partners in 48 countries over the next 12 months. At SharePoint conference which was held earlier this year, Microsoft spoke about the future of Enterprise Social and revealed no.of new features that will be part of Office 365 in the coming months. In that, Microsoft revealed something called Office Graph, which leverages insights from Office 365 and maps the relationships between people, groups, files and conversations through machine learning, and Microsoft intelligently connect and surface the most relevant content to users. Microsoft today announced three new plans for Office 365 targeting small and midsized businesses. The below plans will replace the existing Small Business, Small Business Premium and Midsize Business plans on Office 365. The Office 365 Business plan ($8.25/user/month) is the basic plan that will offer offline Office apps with 1TB of storage, while Office 365 Business Essentials will offer cloud based services such as email, Office online, IM and more. Last year, Microsoft announced that they will be offering Yammer Enterprise to all Office 365 Enterprise plans customers. Today they announced that Yammer Enterprise has been added to all Office 365 Midsize Business and Office 365 Education plans. This addition should further increase the value which Office 365 brings to its customers. As part of this update, all existing Office 365 Midsize Business and Office 365 Education plan customers will receive licenses for Yammer Enterprise. Microsoft has recently revealed that they are increasing the price for Office 365 enterprise customers by up to 15 percent. Customers with Office 365  E suites (E1, E3 and E4), plus equivalent Government SKUs will have this new increased price. As as expected, Office Software Assurance (SA) or old Enterprise Agreement customers will not be affected with this price change. A Microsoft provided the following statement about this price increase, “The vast majority of our customers will not see an increase in the cost of Office 365. All existing Office 365 EA customers are guaranteed prices will not change for the duration of their agreement. Microsoft today released a major feature in Outlook Web App for Office 365 users. This new feature will enable enhanced document collaboration experience for the users. Till now, when you send Office files as attachments, the other person has to first download the document to make the edits and reattach it to send it back. This requires multiple steps and context switches, which can be distracting and time-consuming. This new feature announced today aims to improve the way people interact with files as attachments in their email. Last month, we reported that Chinese government made a strange move by announcing the ban of Microsoft’s Windows 8 OS in government computers. As per reports, the ban was due to the notice on the use of energy-saving products. The official Xinhua news agency claimed that it was due to security concerns. Following the bad, Microsoft continued providing Windows 7 to these agencies and even defended the security features in Windows 8. Today, a Chinese media reported that Microsoft Office productivity suite is banned in parts of the Chinese central government and its subordinated departments. As usual, the reason was mentioned as the act of ensuring information security. The government has not commented about this ban yet. Microsoft last month launched the public preview of Office Mix, a new tool that will allow users to create interactive online lessons using PowerPoint. You can add whatever content you want into the Mix. Add audio and video of yourself giving your presentation, write on slides as you talk to them, insert quizzes, practice exercises, and more – all from within PowerPoint.
