This version 1.3 available today includes two main improvements including the ability to set your Skype profile picture using Kinect and improved auto-zoon feature.  We know that your Skype profile picture says a lot about you, so with this release you’ll now be able to take a Skype profile picture using Kinect on your Xbox One. In celebration of the release of “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” and in the spirit of heroism, Marvel and Skype partnered to make something meaningful. Skype and its employees have raised funds to give a heroic 10-year-old Ugandan orphan named Kasiita Ben the educational tools he needs. Kasiita came to Skype’s attention because of students at George Street Middle School in New Brunswick, Canada. They’ve long been meeting with Kasiita and other Ugandan children over Skype as part of CHAT to the Future, a Skype in the classroom partner. CHAT is a nongovernmental organization that pays for rent, necessities and school fees for 17 orphans rescued from poverty and illiteracy in Kampala, Uganda. Qik is a mobile video sharing service, that allowed users to record and share the experience with your friends, family and their favorite social networks. One of the unique feature of Qik is that it allowed users to stream live video from their mobile devices to the internet. Skype bought Qik back in 2011 for about $150 million. Since then, the app didn’t receive any major updates, but remained active. Today, Qik has sent out email to their users that the service will be shutdown on April 30th.
