Microsoft today updated their Skype app in Windows Store. In April, Microsoft announced that their group video calling experience free to existing platforms, with additional device support coming soon. Today, with this app update, they are bringing the feature to Windows tablets and Windows 2 in 1 devices. Watch the video demo above to see how it works. Skype 5.1 update which was released last week included the ability to delete a conversation, edit a message and added a “Skype”-only contact filter, and more. In an email sent to customers in the European Union, Microsoft announced that they will no longer charge customers with VAT tax during their purchase of Skype Credits. So, customers can only pay for the amount of credit they require at the point-of-purchase. Previously, the Luxembourg VAT rate of 15% generally applies if you are located in the EU and Skype products are purchased and used within the EU although products purchased in Switzerland attracts a local 8% VAT rate. Skype 5.1 for iPhone is the result of Skype team listening to user feedback and immediately addressing those comments. Microsoft Skype team has added two new chat commands for Skype. These new commands can be entered into the message box of Skype from any client. The new /remotelogout and /showplaces commands allows you to control your Skype account login activity from anywhere. Read about it below. Controlling Skype across all your devices with /remotelogout:  The first of the two new chat commands that I want to discuss is /remotelogout. If you’re signed into your Skype account on multiple devices, this new command signs you out on all of them except for the device you enter the command on. At the Recode Code Conference in Palos Verdes, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella took stage to talk about Microsoft. During the interview, Microsoft demonstrated a breakthrough technology called Skype Translator. Nadella conducted a conversation with Skype chief Gurdeep Singh Pall, who was speaking German, while Skype provided real-time translation of the German into English and vice versa. Skype Translator results from decades of work by the industry, years of work by our researchers, and now is being developed jointly by the Skype and Microsoft Translator teams.
