We already saw reports that Microsoft Surface RT attracted a long line in Beijing, China back in October when it was first launched. It seems that the demand didn’t last for so many days, according to IDC, Microsoft Surface RT shipments has been low with only 30,000 units shipped during the fourth quarter. So, Surface accounted for only 1% of tablet market in China. IDC also reported that Microsoft was concerned less with boosting shipments, and instead used the device to demonstrate to PC vendors “how great” a Windows tablet could be, Chang said. In China, Microsoft decided to only sell the product through local electronics retailer Suning and its own online sales channel. Read more about it from the links below. via: TNW, Computer World ...

Despite severe stock shortages and a high price the Microsoft Surface pro has still managed to make it onto Best Buy’s Bet Seller list, currently sitting in 4th spot behind much, much cheaper Amazon Kindle and Samsung Galaxy Tab. The Windows 8 tablet has been seeing severe supply shortages, but Microsoft has promised to restock this weekend, and is currently taking pre-orders for delivery later in the month. Interestingly on the same page the Surface RT tablet holds 12th spot, suggesting the Windows 8 tablet may see better success than its more limited sibling. See the Best Buy page here. The Examiner has interviewed some new Surface Pro owners 2 days after they took their Windows 8 tablets home, and found them pretty satisfied with their devices. "I’ve had this thing by my side for the past three days," says Jesse Fuentes, an engineer in Los Angeles." It is by far the best device I have ever owned. I can do everything I can with this that I could my MacBook Air and iPad," he continues. Yong Lee, a marketing manager,  also fell in love. "I am more of an Apple person than Microsoft. But the Surface Pro is a better piece of hardware than Apple has ever made," Lee says. Lee agrees that the battery life is subpar, but it’s not a disaster. "This is a laptop replacement, not a tablet replacement," says high school math teacher Jennifer Parsons. "The battery life is on par with most ultrabooks. Students ...

The reason one choses a Surface Pro Windows 8 tablet over an iPad or Android tablet is pretty simple – the power of a full Windows PC with the portability of a tablet. In the above video we have Martin giving a demo of that power, by playing Counter-Strike: Global Offensive on his tablet. He notes the game works pretty well, but is somewhat limited by the keyboard – maybe next time he should drag his Xbox 360 controller with him Have any of our readers managed to get their hands on the short-supply tablet yet? Let us know your experience below. Thanks Martin for the tip. ...

Surface Pro has launched, which means you can (maybe) head to your local Microsoft Retail Store to finally pick up your Surface Pro. But before you head out the door with an empty Surface in hand, you might want to take advantage of the bundled deals that are available.  What is Microsoft Complete? Complete is Microsoft’s insurance and tech support program for the Surface. Unlike other extended warranties, you get quite a few things included for $99 for 2 years: Accidental damage coverage Factory defects coverage Tech support that includes unlimited support at the Answers Desk in-store, virus/spyware removal, hardware/software install, etc. and unlimited support over the phone The really good thing about Complete for Surface Pro is that, unlike the one for Surface RT, there is no deductible and there is no limit to check-ins (versus a limit of 2 on the RT). So that means that if something happens ...

WPArea.de reports the Surface RT tablet is coming to Germany on the 14th February and will likely be carried by Saturn and Media Markt. The news was announced by Microsoft already last week, but WPArea reports that television and other media ads, such as the one above and below, have now started appearing, suggesting a real push is underway. Will our readers be picking up a Surface Pro? Let us know why or why not below. Thanks Martin for the tip. ...
