At Building Windows 8 blog today, Microsoft detailed the touchpad support that will be part of Windows 8 PCs. Microsoft worked with major PC OEMs to provide a new touchpad experience that incorporates new Windows 8 gestures. Microsoft collaborated with touchpad component vendors and have incorporated native support in firmware to deliver great gesture recognition.   Microsoft today detailed the work it has been doing with PC OEMs for building next generation Windows 8 and Windows RT based devices. Microsoft also announced that we can expect ARM-based PC designs from Dell, Lenovo, and Samsung running Windows RT this year. Also Microsoft said that all of these Windows RT PCs will have consistent fast and fluidtouch interactions, long battery life, connected standby, and are beautiful, thin, and light designs. Microsoft also said that you can expect 8 hours to 13 hours of scenario run time of HD Video Playback on Windows RT machines. Pulse, one of the famous news reader apps available across multiple mobile platforms today launched their web version. Microsoft worked with the Pulse team to optimize their new web experience on IE10. The end result is kind of amazing that really showcases the power of the web. The whole site is hardware accelerated with support for touch gestures as well. Pinching the Pulse home screen will result in the entire page resizing fluidly to add content. A “stick-to-your-finger” experience with every swipe, loading the next news article in the queue. Additionally, on touch PCs and tablets, IE10 allows a two finger side-swipe to bring your reading pane into view, giving Pulse users an easy and fluid access to the content they care about (something their app doesn’t even do).
