Microsoft today announced a minor update for Skype for Windows devices in Windows Store. This new v2.5 includes improved UI for contacts, ability to mute IM sounds, etc,. A new consumer study has revealed that more men prefer Microsoft brand over Apple. Annalect conducted a research to study ‘Changing Role of Men’, and found that, in terms of brands that “resonate” with the male population, Microsoft trumped Apple and other brands across age groups. The study interviewed Boomers (born 1946-1964), Gen Xers (born 1965-1979), and Millennials (born (1980-2000), tallying up to a sum total of 1,509 men for the November 2013 study. Each participant was given a list of brands, ranging from Starbucks, McDonalds’s Coca Cola, Levi’s and Nike. With each different group of men, Microsoft proved a more popular choice than Apple, and was comprehensively favored over the Cupertino, California-based brand. New features in Windows 8.1 Update 1 is getting revealed every other day. We previously reported that Windows 8.1 Update 1 allows you to pin your Windows Store apps to the taskbar. Apart from that, the pinned Windows Store apps in taskbar also supports thumbnail previews. Today, McAkins revealed that pinning supported modern apps to task bar allows you to enjoy Jump lists and media controls features as well. Wzor today posted new screenshots of Windows 8.1 Update 1 build 6.3.9600.16608.WINBLUES14_GDR_LEAN.140130- 2030.
