According to Netmarketshare’s numbers, Microsoft’s Internet Explorer browser gained market share in August hitting a two-year high of 57.6 percent. Google Chrome lost the most among the major browsers which saw its usage drop from 17.76 percent to 16 percent. I was surprised by the numbers when I saw it first, then came to know that Netmarketshare changed the way they measure their numbers this month. Ed Bott from ZDNet summarized it as follows, Net Applications recently changed its formula for measuring usage. In an undated note labeled “Important methodology change,” the company explains: This month we start deducting hidden pages from our usage share statistics. Hidden pages are pages that are rendered but never viewed by the user, therefore, they should not be included in usage share data. According to the latest report from Netmarketshare, Microsoft’s Windows 8 now holds 7.65 percent of worldwide desktop OS market share. This number suggests that Windows 8 now has more users worldwide than all versions of Mac OS X combined. Microsoft just started selling Windows 8 from last October and this number reveals that more than 100 million units of Windows 8 devices have been sold since then.   Sony has published the above teaser on its YouTube account recently. As you can see, Sony is planning to reveal a Lenovo Yoga style Ultrabook hybrid. The device can act as a laptop, tablet when folded all together, and also as a viewer. Lenovo is yet to update its successful Yoga lineup with Intel’s latest Hasewell processor. Foursqaure today released a all new app for Windows 8/RT devices in Windows Store. This is not a version which was ported from iOS or Android, instead Foursquare worked with Microsoft to create a stunning new visual experience to explore the local places. Microsoft today officially confirmed that both Windows 8.1 and Windows RT 8.1 is now in RTM stage, so they have started releasing Windows 8.1 and Windows RT 8.1 to all their hardware partners. A new partner build of Windows 8.1 got leaked today on internet. This build 9477 is of  X64 and zh-CN version. There is no significant change spotted from the previously leaked builds. Asus is planning to release a Windows 8 based touch screen laptop called Vivobook X102BA soon. The details of the laptop along with images got leaked yesterday. This device will have a 10.1-inch touchscreen with 1366×768 resolution, powered by AMD A4-1200 processor at 1.0 Ghz and AMD Radeon HD 8180 graphics. Yesterday, we posted some information about the upcoming Nokia Windows RT tablet. We reported that the device is coming to AT&T in Cyan color. Today, images of red colored Nokia Windows RT tablet for Verizon got leaked on to the web. Windows RT branding confirms that it is a Windows RT device as opposed to x86 based Windows 8 device.
