Nokia is working on a Windows tablet and it was reported to have Asus Vivo Tab style keyboard dock/cover. Here is the information we about it. The 10.1 inch tablet will have USB and HDMI-out, and also cellular connectivity, with 10 hours battery life which can  be fast-charged to 50% in a short period. The real innovation however will come from the accompanying cover, which The Verge noted will snap in place and will double battery life, provide a keyboard and also a kickstand for the tablet. The cover will also provide two USB ports. While the cover sounds rather fantastical, it is of note that the Asus Vivotab RT (pictured above) provides a “cover” with very similar functionality, and which effectively turns the Vivotab into a laptop. IDC reported its Worldwide Quarterly PC Tracker shipments yesterday and the report turned out to be a bad news for the PC industry. Worldwide PC shipments was 76.3 million units in the Q1 of 2013 which is down -13.9% compared to the Q1 in 2012. IDC also stated that it is worse than the forecast decline of -7.7% and also the worst decline since IDC begun tracking PC numers. Despite some mild improvement in the economic environment and some new PC models offering Windows 8, PC shipments were down significantly across all regions compared to a year ago. Fading Mini Notebook shipments have taken a big chunk out of the low-end market while tablets and smartphones continue to divert consumer spending. We all know that Microsoft is working on Outlook for Windows RT devices. But the real question is, when is it going to come? Two prominent Microsoft bloggers from Winsupersite and ZDNet today revealed some info on Outlook RT based on their information from sources. Paul’s info, It’s perhaps more interesting that Outlook RT has made its way outside of Microsoft as well. This suggests that it’s much closer to an actual release, though I have no information about when that might happen. I was told, however, that Outlook RT didn’t make the cut for the initial release of Windows RT because of a firmware bug in the ARM chipset that would cause the application to hang or crash over time. The general manager of Microsoft Turkey, Tamer Özmen said Microsoft is planning to build a tablet research and development laboratory in Turkey to facilitate “Fatih”, the Turkish government’s tablet education project. “We are very keen to be involved in the project and we’re working on establishing the first research and development laboratory in Turkey”, he added. The move came as the Turkish government planned to replace the traditional blackboards and text books with electronic boards and tablet PCs as part of the Fatih education project. The Modern Internet Explorer 11 in Windows 8 already features swipe navigation for browsing the web. It supports Back and forward swipe page navigation with preview. Winsupersite reports that even desktop version of Internet Explorer 11 in the leaked Windows Blue build supports swipe navigation with touch. With IE 11, Microsoft is bringing this feature to the desktop version of the browser too. As with IE 10 Metro, it only works via touch; that is, you can’t use the mouse to “grab” the current web page and navigate right (back) or left (forward).
