Apart from the lack of key apps, Microsoft’s Windows Store faces another key issue of having fake apps in the Store. For example, searching for VLC will give you the above search results page, out of which only one is the official app. Recently, Microsoft responded that they are looking to fix this problem in Windows Store. Today, they announced revised policies for Windows Store that won’t allow such kind of apps in Windows Store. These changes included: Naming – to clearly and accurately reflect the functionality of the app. Categories – to ensure apps are categorized according to the app function and purpose. Icons – must be differentiated to avoid being mistaken with others. These revised policies are being applied to all new app submissions and existing app updates for both the Windows and Windows Phone Store. Another good news is that they are applying this new policies with the existing apps in Windows Store ...

We already saw few reports that Microsoft is planning to release Windows RT without desktop experience. Today, another report from Myce.com claims the same that Microsoft will release Windows RT devices that only contain Metro user experience. If this happens to be true, then Microsoft may position Windows RT as a touch only OS targeted for tablets alone. The current desktop experience in Windows RT is confusing to average consumers. Even though it looks like any other Windows desktop, you can’t install any classic Windows apps other than Microsoft Office. Also, when this desktop-less Windows RT OS ships, the Office Gemini (touch based Office) will be available for the general public. What do you think of Microsoft’s decision to ship Windows RT without desktop experience? Source: Myce ...

Apart from the lack of key apps, Microsoft’s Windows Store faces another key issue of having fake apps in the Store. For example, searching for VLC will give you the above search results page, out of which only one is the official app. Others are just spam apps with no real content and offers no value to the users downloading it. How-To Geek’s  did an investigation of this issue, “Within half an hour we managed to find fake paid versions of Adobe Flash Player, Firefox, Pandora, IMDB, Candy Crush Saga, Wechat, WhatsApp, uTorrent, Picasa, Bluestacks, Minecraft, Spotify, Google Hangouts, Picasa, Clash of Clans, Blender 3D, and a lot more.” These are all apps that are supposed to be free (and if you go to the Windows Store now you can try this experiment for yourself). Microsoft responded to this issue with the following statement, We strive to make the Windows Store ...
