Microsoft yesterday sent out email to customers notifying that Zune Marketplace will no longer support rental and purchase of content starting Nov 22nd. Zune Marketplace had millions of songs, videos, podcasts, and TV shows for purchase and rental and it was available across Windows Phone 7 devices, PC, Xbox and the web. Since Microsoft has transitioned to the new Xbox entertainment services like Xbox Music and Xbox Video, Zune Marketplace will shutdown on Nov 22nd. Microsoft Xbox team today revealed their plans to celebrate the launch of Xbox One with Xbox fans around the world, when it launches next Friday, Nov. 22. Microsoft has planned more than 10,000 retail locations for mid-night launches. More than 10,000 retail locations in 13 countries will open their doors at 12:01 a.m. on Nov. 22 to welcome fans amidst great fanfare.   When Microsoft demoed an experimental technology which would be able to stream Xbox games to Windows 8 and Windows Phone handsets at its annual company meeting few months back, there were lots of speculations that Microsoft might solve Xbox 360 games incompatibility with Xbox One by using this technology.   Microsoft has added Blu-ray disc support in Xbox One, but that doesn’t mean that Microsoft will also support 3D Blu-ray playback. Microsoft has confirmed to CNET that Xbox One won’t support 3D Blu-ray playback at launch. When I first read this news, I was like, “Does it really matter?”. First of all, there are very few 3D Blu-ray content available right now and it can be played only on a appropriate 3D TV setup. However, people with lots of 3D Blu-ray content would be disappointed at this news.
