There were reports floating around the internet few months back that Xbox vNext will require Internet connection to work. This news created lots of discussion and Microsoft obviously didn’t comment on it since it is about their future product which is yet to be revealed. Today, Ars Technica reported about an internal email from Microsoft which explained the internet connection required for Xbox vNext. Details about Xbox vNext is getting leaked every other day. Microsoft is officially planning to reveal Xbox vNext details in May. So far we know that Xbox vNext will include powerful graphics processors to support next generation games and Xbox LIVE tv stuff. Today, The Verge revealed four new game titles that will be part of the launch titles for Xbox vNext. The list includes Ryse, Forza, a Pixar movie style Zombie game and more. We all know that Microsoft is working on some cool stuff related to TV in the upcoming Xbox vNext release. One part of the story was to create Xbox LIVE exclusive content for the subscribers and the other part of it was to enhance the traditional cable TV experience. According to the recent report from The Verge, Xbox vNext will take the existing cable signals in and present it with the Kinect based UI and will have more features over it. The functionality will work by taking a cable box signal and passing it through to the Xbox via HDMI, allowing Microsoft’s console to overlay a UI and features on top of an existing TV channel or set-top box. We have seen many reports in the past pointing towards AMD based CPU/GPU combination in Microsoft’s Xbox vNext. Today, Bloomberg confirmed via its sources that Xbox vNext is indeed powered by AMD chips. The new developer platform will be based on familiar x86 architecture powered by AMD system-on-a-chip that combines powerful “Jaguar” central processing units with graphics chips. Microsoft is getting into a new kind of content business. They are going to release a British film called Pulp exclusively for Xbox LIVE users. Pulp is a comedy about a struggling comic book publisher recruited by the police to bust a crime syndicate. Microsoft is planning to distribute more films this way in the future.
