After the series of rumors about Xbox 720 codenamed ‘Loop’ that it will be announced at CES 2012, Halo series director Frank O’Connor has dismissed all the speculations that the next version of Halo will be released on Xbox 360. “Halo 4 will be on Xbox 360 and use a modified core of the Halo engine(s). Not really a singular engine since it goes through fairly radical evolutions all the time,” Xbox ‘Loop’/720 was rumored to feature six-core CPU and dual-GPU hardware setup. Today Activision announced that about 12 million of copies of Call of Duty : Modern Warfare 3 game copies were sold throughout the world. This is approximately equal to estimated $738 million from direct sales. This marks the record sales ever in the history of entertainment. The good news for Microsoft is that over 7 million copies of the sold game copies were for Xbox platform. This leaves the remaining 5 million number of Sony, Nintendo and PC gaming platforms. NPD Group released its monthly console market sales numbers which revealed that Xbox is continuing its lead in the console market. Its also important to note that Xbox 360 is doing this in the past 16 of 17 months. Its an incredible momentum that drives more and more sales. Holding 44 percent share of the overall current-generation console market, Xbox 360 sold 393,000 units in October, maintaining the number-one console spot in the U.S. for 2011. Microsoft revealed that it would sell a commercial version of a Kinect for Windows SDK to businesses from early in 2012 in an interview to FT.  Dennis Durkin, Xbox chief financial officer said that, “Once you bring down that price point, all of a sudden it opens up a bunch of new developer opportunities,” he said. As well as academic interest, Microsoft has been working on a pilot programme with more than 200 companies for use of the Kinect across 25 industries, from healthcare to education, advertising and the automotive industry. “It’s likely that many ‘killer apps’ will be developed within their respective fields,”. Xbox is partnering with Sesame Workshop and National Geographic for producing the next generation of television content which is interactive, live-action, Downloadable, linear episodes run like a normal television show. This new type of content allows children to play games with familiar characters and don virtual costumes that mold to their bodies and play around with the show’s environment. Microsoft is also working on a project called "Project Columbia,” which is a series of such children books.
