Microsoft is in talks with  almost two dozen providers of music, sports, movies and TV shows in the U.S. and Europe. In a post on Major Nelson’s blog Stephen Toulouse, head of Xbox LIVE Policy and Enforcement, admitted that innocent users have been banned from Xbox Live due to a software error. He said: Recently, it was brought to our attention that a number of customers had concerns about the validity of a recent ban of their individual consoles, which they feel had been triggered inaccurately. In this case, the bans were related specifically to modded consoles. I take these claims very seriously, and after an initial investigation we have confirmed that a handful of banned consoles did in-fact appear to not have been modified or tampered with. We’re still conducting our review but the cause appears to be a software issue, not an error on the part of the enforcement team’s normal actions. Microsoft first announced its plans for Xbox TV service back at CES while hiding most of the details. Microsoft continued to spread the fact that TV service is coming to Xbox this fall whenever it found chances. Now According to sources of Digiday, Microsoft is set to partner with Comcast and Verizon, perhaps within a month so as to push Xbox holiday sales. Consumers can subscribe to Comcast or FiOS TV packages directly through Xbox instead of buying or installing another set-top box.   Its hard to believe there was a time when Microsoft was seen as a failing upstart in the game console arena, and a few years ago, when the Wii was dominant, it was even harder to believe Microsoft would the best selling console for 14 out of the last 15 months. The latest NPD figures for console sales in the US however goes to underline just how dominant Microsoft has become in that gaming arena, with the company having 40% of the market for the last 6 months, hitting 43% in August 2011, selling 308 thousand consoles. The Playstation 3 only sold 218 thousand, despite a $50 price cut, and even the Nintendo 3DS, despite its own massive price cut, at 235 thousand failed to outsell the Microsoft console. Microsoft is keeping on its promise and delivering the update to users. NPD group today released data on retail sales of  online-capable games and game cards. The graph released by NPD clearly shows Xbox 360 is way ahead of both Sony’s PS3 and Nintendo’s Wii in terms of sales. NPD didn’t share any specific numbers though. Microsoft’s Israeli research and development department has hinted at the existence of an upgrade to the Xbox 360 to bring stereoscopic 3D support to the console. In response to a story running in the Israeli Gadgetly talking about a dashboard rumour to the Xbox 360 which will bring stereoscopic 3D support to the console Microsoft Research Israel tweeted  “What do you think of a 3D console?” , linking to the article. The latest monthly NPD results are in, and once again, as it has for the last 11 out of 12 months, Microsoft’s Xbox 360 has taken the lead. Now in the seventh year of its lifecycle, with no successor in sight,  Xbox 360 is on pace to have the biggest year in its history, a feat never achieved by any console in history.
