As part of the massive layoffs announced at Microsoft, Microsoft announced that they are going to shut down the recently formed Xbox Entertainment Studios which was responsible for creating original programming for Xbox platform. CBS entertainment president Nancy Tellem was hired by Microsoft back in 2012 to lead these efforts and their recent production was “Every Street United” which was premiered on Xbox One during the world cup. As you all know, there are about 5000 Microsoft employees losing their job as part of the reorganization and restructuring announced by CEO Satya Nadella. We recently reported that the Operating System’s group was hit hard by this layoffs as they are changing the functional structure itself by reducing testers. We already know that Xbox Entertainment Studios is going to closed as part of this layoffs. Apart from this, MCV reported that as many as 75% of full time Xbox EMEA roles were being cut and the Xbox UK team has also been reduced by 10%. For the sixth straight month, Sony’s PlayStation 4 has beat Xbox One in sales in the US. Even the doubling of console sales was not enough for Microsoft to catch up with PS4 which shows that Xbox One sales were really bad in the month of May.
