Excessive Profanity In Xbox Live Upload Studio Videos May Lead To Xbox Live Account Ban

5

Today, there were lots of reports that Microsoft is banning users for using excessive profanity during private Skype calls and Xbox Live Upload Studio videos. Microsoft provided the following statement regarding this issue which confirms that Microsoft does not monitor Skype calls for excessive profanity and few user’s accounts got banned due to some bug. However, they have confirmed that excessive profanity as well as other Code of Conduct violations in Xbox Live Upload Studio videos will be enforced upon and result in suspension of some or all privileges on Xbox Live.

To be clear, the Xbox Live Policy & Enforcement team does not monitor direct peer-to-peer communications like Skype chats and calls. Also, we take Code of Conduct moderation via Upload Studio very seriously. We want a clean, safe and fun environment for all users. Excessive profanity as well as other Code of Conduct violations will be enforced upon and result in suspension of some or all privileges on Xbox Live. We remain committed to preserving and promoting a safe, secure and enjoyable experience for all of our Xbox Live members.

There are times where you should leave things to a mute button, I guess I will add this as another reason for me not to buy a console this generation. ^_^

or you know you can choose not to upload video… or even better, stop being retarded and swear like if that makes you cool and awesome, like some people you see in online gaming (not consoles only of course)

so my point is… why would you not buy something for a feature that you can aviod?

about about the swearing… well, its stupid… i can accept some swearing but not when its massive and idiotic. over the years I found myself speaking a nice native language with a nice accent and nice words, but other people talk like idiots and say stupid words. I don’t expect people being like me… but common sense its common sense, and why is the massive swearing needed? sometimes its just pass vulgar instead of making a video better.
so again, your reason to say this is a reason not to buy a xbox one (in this case) sounds silly since you can just avoid uploading videos with massive swearing.

Thanks, Emi. It’s refreshing to hear someone stand up for what USE to be common decency. It’s pretty lazy and inconsiderate for people to resort to foul language when there simply is no reason for it. I understand the occasional slip. But I have zero respect for people whose language appears to require inserting an expletive every few words.

Are those profanity ridden games also going to be banned, or is it ok to make $$$ while banning users for the same behavior?
