Following Windows 8 Ban, Microsoft Will Continue To Provide Windows 7 To Chinese Government

Yesterday, we reported that Chinese government made a strange move by announcing the ban of Microsoft’s Windows 8 OS in government computers. As per reports, the ban was due to the notice on the use of energy-saving products. The official Xinhua news agency claimed that it was due to security concerns. “The Chinese government obviously cannot ignore the risks of running OS without guaranteed technical support,” it reported. It is not yet clear on what exactly is the cause of Windows 8 ban.

Just like everyone of us, Microsoft is also surprised by the move and will push Windows 7 for now to these government agencies.

“We were surprised to learn about the reference to Windows 8 in this notice.

“Microsoft has been working proactively with the Central Government Procurement Centre and other government agencies through the evaluation process to ensure that our products and services meet all government procurement requirements.

“We have been and will continue to provide Windows 7 to government customers. At the same time we are working on the Window 8 evaluation with relevant government agencies.”

Imagine how much less pollution and natural resources consumed if we just banned the Chinese from living. That would be awesome.

    • Jimmyz

Is this the pollution and natural resources that the chinese use to meet USA Consumption of cheap electronic goods ??……………………….you are an asshole. It would be more awesome if we banned the biggest wasters on the planet from living, yep you guessed right, the obese yanks……………

I bet it’s because they haven’t cracked Windows 8 to have their hidden monitoring software. It’s a security threat because they can’t control it yet.

Correct, there is no other logical reason for them to use W7 instead. It has even shorter support cycle then W8.

bottom line is they can’t pirate Windows 8 like they could with XP so they don’t want it. I suggest they keep using XP so we can hack them freely.

If China develop its own OS (based on Linux), then there will always be corruptions. Project leaders or the official overseeing it can take a lot of cuts.

Also, I think the Snowden’s leak has real negative impacts on US technology business.

China is like a soap opera….
but it seems they just want to make an excuse not to upgrade to latest MS OS, especially since the cracking method for Win8 is not as “good” as xp or vista or 7, since it’s by kms so it means it lasts only 6 months and if Microsoft changes something, like with 8.1 you can’t upgrade because then you won’t have a valid OS…

Paid support for XP continues. As usual China wants to either steal software or get everything for free
