Microsoft Twitter Account

After hacking official Xbox and Xbox support twitter accounts, official SyrianElectronicArmy has hacked the official Microsoft Twitter account. As you can see in the image above, they have tweeted about Microsoft email accounts being monitored by governments and top websites visited on IE is for downloading other browsers.

I think its time for Microsoft to revisit their official social media account usage policy. May be changing strong passwords often with knowledge social media managers should avoid this sort of embarrassing moments.

Update:

A Microsoft Spokesperson confirmed the hacking with the following statement,

“Microsoft is aware of targeted cyberattacks that temporarily affected the Xbox Support and Microsoft News Twitter accounts. The accounts were quickly reset and we can confirm that no customer information was compromised.”

What do you think?

Its pretty embarassing to be hacked by the same group with the same method twice within 2 weeks.

True. That stands above all., But I have an issue with them pointing to Chrome or any Google product after pointing MS as selling data… Firefox for some reason I get, Google? Hmm.

    • Emi the Strange

that’s how twitter security sucks :)

  • Emi the Strange

what a pathetic group, anyway why don’t they go and do it with google and practically most companies who sell data? they have no proof about Microsoft “monitoring” anything, its the same about skydrive, its probably a machine doing it, its not like they are reading my boring newsletters and the few amazing spam I get about a blizzard account hacked.

True, maybe they’re just Gmail-users who think that the angelic Google would never do anyone harm, but big evil Microsoft is selling Satan and Assad your data, I personally have no respect for anyone that hacks into a good corportation that saved millions of starving African children’s lives on the basis that a few e’mails might get read.

They’re a harmless bunch of losers. Don’t give them any media exposure by reporting on this nonsense.

      Good point!

    “…Don’t use Microsoft emails(hotmail,outlook)…”?
    Are they serious?
After almost 15 years on hotmail/outlook, and some lowlife “hackers” want me to abandon hotmail/outlook? What a joke:)

    To me (reKitab), yes me:)
    “…Windows Live Team (communications@microsoft.windowslive.com)
    4/07/09 (2009)
That’s right! For roughly a decade you’ve been using Hotmail® to help keep your digital life in sync, and we just want to say thank you. You’ve witnessed many dramatic improvements to Hotmail since it……”

maybe next year I get a similar message :D

      • reKitab

If they follow the tradition, you’ll get your thankyou message. On my 15th anniversary july 2014, I wish M$’ll send me an XBoxOne as a gesture for being a faithful hotmail/outlook user continuously…:)

looks like google is supporting the Syrians

Hope Microsoft gets their shit together.
This is appening much more often than it should…
I thaught I could trust Microsoft and if someone would never be hacked it would be Microsoft but now I don’t know what to think!

      …absolutely everything can be hacked…. it’s only a matter of dedication and time…. :-)
