FT: Microsoft is talking to UK landlords about Microsoft Stores

The Financial Times reports that Microsoft is confident about launching their first European Microsoft Stores next year, with the company reportedly already speaking to property landlords in UK about the plans.

Apparently plans are pending an internal review at the end of this year that will study how well the stores in the US have performed, and which formats have worked best.

The stores would sell Microsoft-branded devices like the Surface tablet and possibly rumoured Surface phone, but also hardware  and accessories from their OEM partners like HTC and Nokia Windows Phones. With rumours of an Xbox TV in addition the number of products which could fill shelves makes the decision to have its own retail chain increasingly compelling.

I don’t know. Don’t get me wrong, I love the Microsoft store. But I’m not interested in what they have. More of, they don’t carry the options/things I want.

I wished they could bring this concept. A Multi-store concept. Lets say: Microsoft Mall. And then within there you will have HP, Dell, Asus, Acer, Samsung, LG, Nokia, HTC, the list goes on. HP would be a store, Dell would be a store, Asus would be a store, Acer would be a store, etc… And there would be a Microsoft station where you could get all the Microsoft accessories, software, hardware, etc…

(Microsoft & Google Mall? Basically, HP, Dell, Asus, Acer, Samsung, etc… will carry all of their products and some are Google Powered, Microsoft powered, Linux powered, etc…)

Man if there was a Microsoft & Google & Linux mall (what would it be called?), I would (practically) live there!

But the point I’m going there is that there is a win-win situation. Microsoft will sell more and the OEMs will sell more.

I haven’t been to any MS store since there are none where I come from, but don’t MS Stores already carry Windows products from HP, Dell, Lenovo, Samsung, etc.?!!

Also, isn’t this a topic on MS stores? Why are you talking about Google and Linux malls!!!

Why would Microsoft cooperate with bloody Google?

Because the Apple hater wants to have somewhere to go that isn’t his mother’s basement.

The Xbox TV would be a ‘big hit’, if it would allow a variety of media formats stored on local storage to be played along with the online-streaming stuff. This could either be native or allow a third-party app such as XBMC/VLC/MPC-HC/PowerDVD, providing they produce the same apps for WinRT.

I wish they would hire local people in charge with local stores.

I went to buy a Windows 8 Tablet from “my” Big Local Store.

MS just lunched there Windows 8, Windows Phone 8, Xbox & CO.

There were a lot of pretty girls, flyers, posters, big screen TV’s with ads… a Windows 8 Tablet Special Section…

There were only 2 “Touch Enabled” Win 8 Laptops and many more “non touch” – hidden in a corner – all having Admin Password ON!!!

On Win 8 Tablet Section was just 1 functional Tablet – Password ON… AND 10+ Android Tablets.

On WP Section just one Lumia 900 – broken/Buggy Touches (Or Maybe it’s a general issue with the “Store Test WP Image” because I see the same issue on every store … on WP Test Phones – but not on mine or other non test ones)

Overall… it was a mess… better hire some people to FIX this issue first with existing Stores…

On Xbox Section there was nothing – only 1 BIG screen (4 side by side) and 2 consoles – non functional – password on.
