    500GB of on-board memory ^^

    • auziez

Definately something needed, especially if we have to install every game we buy.
I cannot wait for the NextBox (and ok, im interested to see Sony try)

      • Zicoz

Point is that it has 8GB of memory, the 500GB are storage.

8GB of volatile memory, 500GB of non-volatile memory. I don’t see what the issue is here

  • traxxx0r

What for is the HDMI input?

    • Zicoz

I was originally thinking it was for connecting it to a DVR/tuner, but I’m starting to lean towards the Kinect now. If it’s 1080p it can’t be done over USB any more.

  • Jdrm03

    lmao, mandatory kinect.

curse of the third generation console continues.

If it comes with, then it’s not a big deal. Kinect as it is is awesome. Looking forward to the next iteration.

      • Jdrm03

it is a big deal beause they are forcing you to use it. It has to always be able to ‘watch’ you. You enjoy being spied on lol.

        • theflew

It’s not that you’re forced to use it. It will just be a feature a game developer knows you have.

        • Jim Cherry

I would like to sell you …..
a piece of black electric tape or maybe an xbox tinfoil hat accessory to fix that for you

          • Jdrm03

it specifically says that it has to always be watching you in order for the console to function.

    • auziez

Well, it depends what kind of functionality it brings. Right now, as is… it doesnt seem like it would be neccessary.
But imagine the nextBox, being able to gesture in any game, any time, to have controls at your finger tip. To be able to skype someone while playing and move around their image on the screen.
With kinect a requirement, the NextBox could have some massive uplifts to its functionality.
Pair that with a controller that has a small LCD screen and you have my buy sir.

    Multitasking? Finally!

    800 GHz ??? :)

the graphics card is 800 ghz. Not the CPU, the CPU is 1.6 ghz.

      • D_A

it should say 800 MHz not GHz .

  • frankwick

Glad to see the camera improvements. The current camera is not good.

Just not convinced, the clock rate of the old 360 GPU was 500Mhz and 7 years on it hasn’t doubled?

There’s 8X 1.6GHz cores but in the old Xbox there are 3X 3.2GHz, whilst 8 cores is great – why not at least 2.2GHz? The overall increase in power isn’t as massive as the 360 had over the original Xbox (and there was only 4 years between those).

It’s like the RLOD scared MS from innovating and they decided to play it safe. I’d have preferred if they went crazy with over-the-top specs and had to develop some sort of liquid cooling solution than being careful.

And effing Kinect built-in? The only thing Kinect is good for now if voice recognition. I am becoming more incensed when watching a show on the Xbox by the motion sensor thinking I am waving at it every time I pick up my drink so please don’t make a more sensitive one compulsory!

Speaking as an Xbox supporter I am underwhelmed so far, so MS – it will take some convincing when we get to E3.

Two things are for sure, it will be a lot nearer the Wii U price than the PS4 price and Durango will not have the shelf life that the 360 enjoyed.

wish Kinect has compound IR eyes + environmental sensor 😉
