Lenovo loves Windows 8, grows share, profit in down PC market.

While Acer has blamed their poor sales on Windows 8 rather than the lack of supplying hardware the public wants, Lenovo, who has been on the forefront of creating great hybrid designs and marketing them well, has been reaping the rewards of supporting the new OS.

Lenovo has just had a record-breaking quarter, growing their market share and profits despite the shrinking PC market.

CEO Yang Yuanqing is quoted as saying that “new technologies like Windows 8, ultrabooks, and convertibles will drive new demand. 2013 will be better than 2012.”

So Acer, how about less winning and some more designing?

    Winning?
    You mean Whining.

Acer should learn a few lessons from Lenovo! The problem is not Windows 8, its the delusional beliefs that Acer needs to overcome since Microsoft decided to introduce Surface.

  • idondon

the distribution channel sucks for Lenovo, I’ve been waiting for a month a laptop to ship!

  • Bugbog

Acer (and the rest of the whining gang) should watch out. If they don’t take care, stop their whining, and roll up their sleeves to dig in and get down to making things work in their favour,..
They’ll wake up to find Lenovo dominating the PC market (to Samsung-Android proportions) and taking 80% of the profits!

Acer never has much advantage in terms of technology. It’s only good at making cheap computers load after load. Acer’s market share got pumped up by making an army of netbooks, but it was just a bubble and already blown up as netbooks were phased out.

Lenovo is a useful channel for sending money to the People’s Liberation Army of the People’s Republic of China. So while Acer is throwing its toys out of the cot and whinging like a crybaby with shitty pants, they are indirectly aiding the government of the illegal state of China to manufacture more weapons and to point more missiles at Taiwan (Republic of China, the one and true China that still has an outstanding land claim with the UN on what land is now occupied by the communists).

Leave your disgustingly distorted politics out of this. Seriously.

No politics please, this is tech site.
Every company in the world have to pay their Taxes to the governments of the lands on which they operates.

So you’re say that Apple contributes too because they build all their products at China’s plants? Sorry, no politics, i know!

And what about Imperial China? ;)

      • disqustingtard

6000 years of conquering and assimilation resulting in the current disgrace.

Lenovo is the only Windows OEM that displays it products uniquely at BestBuy and Staples they have stands for their Twist and Yoga tablets just like Samsung have for the galaxy. Lenovo is putting resources in marketing, while Acer puts more resources in the marketing of their chrome books and expects Microsoft to market their windows products for them.

Lenovo is the last company to make a quality PC product that enterprise can buy with confidence. I suspect it is going to be a ugly year for a bunch of the other OEMs.

    Acer, that’s called a “burn”.
