OneNote Developer APIs

Microsoft OneNote team today made some significant announcements. The announcements include free OneNote app for all Windows 8/Windows 7 customers, releasing new OneNote for Mac, new OneNote Clipper service, new Office Lens app for Windows Phone devices. Along with all these, there is a hidden gem called OneNote Service APIs. This is a REST API that allows you to create rich content in OneNote and reach millions of users who are already using OneNote, for work and life, and across Windows, Mac, Windows Phone, iOS, Android and the Web. Microsoft also announced 12 partners today, who have all successfully integrated with OneNote through our API to enhance their products and services. These partners are Feedly, News360, Weave (WP8/Win8), IFTTT, Livescribe, Doxie, Genius Scan, JotNot, Neat, Epson, Brother and Mod Notebooks.

Partner apps and devices: We want to make it easy to remember things from anywhere, not just Microsoft apps. So we’ve been working with several key partners to let you do that. You can use these great apps and devices to get anything into OneNote today: Brother, DoxieGo, Epson, Feedly, Genius Scan, IFTTT, JotNot, Livescribe, Mod Notebook, News360 and Weave. I’ve started using ”Microsoft OneNote compatible apps”, and now I’m really excited to what the developers will bring to the table. :-D

I hope developers will finally focus more on improving the use of stylus in onenote and it’s UI and improve upon ink-to-text-recognition. High time this feature got more priortiy. Its the one thing that makes this app beter than any other notetaking app in this category. But the ink-to-text experience will have to get better. My suggestion, let onenote developers work together with myscript notes mobile and the windows journal team! That would be one nice team that would ROCK the notetaking show!
