Microsoft Announces Surface with Windows 8 Pro Pricing And Availability

22

Microsoft today shared the details about the Surface with Windows Pro pricing and availability. The device pricing will start from $899 and will be shipping in Jan 2013.

Today, I want to share a bit more detail about the growing Surface family of products and Surface with Windows 8 Pro, specifically around pricing. In January, Surface with Windows 8 Pro will be available in two versions and pricing will start at $899:

· 64GB standalone version at $899

· 128GB standalone version at $999

Both versions will both include a Surface pen with Palm Block technology and include the ability to use a Touch Cover or Type Cover (sold separately).

Surface with Windows 8 Pro uses the same familiar elegant design principles as Surface with Windows RT including the Dark Titanium VaporMg casing, dual 2×2 MIMO antennas designed specifically for Surface and of course the kickstand.

Surface with Windows 8 Pro will include Core i5 processor, 10.6” 16:9 ClearType display with 1920×1080 full HD resolution. It also has USB 3.0, Display Mini port and with support for Pen input.

Do we know how much the covers will cost yet?

same as they are now, because they interchange with the RT.

Great price for what is essentially an Ultrabook!

$1000 for the 128.. I’m going to have to wait for the refurb sales 30% off :(

  • judazuk

My only complaint is…. not until January?.. I want one now!! :)

This is where Digitimes sins. They likely got advance notice of Microsoft’s imminent announcement, and came out with its half truths!

The S-Pro is still coming 3 months later, and MS likely reduce RT requests in advance of S-Pro pre-orders.

Let’s hope the Negative Nancy’s are satisfied with the lack of a bundled keyboard this time (although we’ll probably get those that will have wanted them inclusive with the price!)

It’s too expensive… NOT!! It’s a laptop and as of right now, my wife is getting the RT and me? I’m getting the PRO with both balls swinging! (Can I say that?) ;-P

Come on Microsoft. I need this for Christmas. PLEASE make me happy. I don’t live in USA I have only 2 weeks in NYC to buy or not a Surface. :/

  • Mythos88

Damn, I was really hoping it would have GPS on board. Now i don’t know whether to wait for someone to build an awesome W8 tablet with GPS or not.

    • Alex F.

Get cheap GPS USB dongle and be happy.

I am sorry but I am a huge Microsoft fan and I even think that they should go $100 down if they are not going to do the same with the RT version. If they would have priced the Surface Pro 64 GB at $700 without keyboard that would have been awesome and would have undercut the iPad regardless of it is not a full OS or not.

    Oh Great!
And I can’t have it because I don’t live in US, Canada, UK, Germany or France… Microsoft doesn’t care about people outside this countries and that makes me fell like trash! I would go for other Operating System if iOS and Android (iPad and Nexus are sold almost in every country) didn’t suck! (And Blackberry is even worst)
Probably I’ll just get an Asus Transformerbook…

  • Ocelotty1

4.5 hr battery life Oh crap. :( I am really trying hard to justify a purchase; but that is just too short. Ah sod it. I will get one anyway. :)
