Microsoft Begins Marketing Surface PCs In US

Microsoft surprised everyone by announcing its new hardware series called Surface. Now, they surprised everyone by starting marketing of the device so early. Microsoft Surface graffiti was spotted in corner of North 11th Street and Wythe Avenue and other places in New York. It seems Microsoft is so serious about Surface family of PCs and a clear marketing message will definitely drive more sales.

I hate the fact that its a US only release at present

    • issakainen

      It is? Oh nuts!

    • kalval

That would be super disappointing. The only circumstance I’d consider an oem win8 tablet would be if it had a good 1080p screen and a keyboard solution similar to the surface. And good build quality.

Absolutely: No Integrated Stand, No Touch Cover, No Love!

if its US only…it might be the next zune.

Another excellent product killed by Microsoft’s terrible execution.

    • Panipuri

Wow – they haven’t even released it yet (they’re two months away from it at presnt – launch is Oct 26th) and you’ve already said it’s killed by Microsoft. You made a judgement without verifying whether it is indeed a US only release?

      • rsgx

I’ve heard from many people that its a US only release.

if you even read about surface press release or what they said in the announcement back in june, you would stop writing ignorant comments
“Both will be sold in the Microsoft Store locations in the U.S. and available through select online Microsoft Stores.”
MS stores are currently in US. no? get it? there is no Microsoft store in india or UK or china or whatever, and there wont be in 2 months either.
OEM tablets are the ones that will be sold at amazon and bestbuy, etc because Microsoft doesn’t want to compete with oems “that way”.
but yeah your smart comment, that means… MS killed surface back in june? /s..
oh wait no, people its excited about it even though Microsoft CLEARLY said it would be sold ONLY through Microsoft Stores. and still it says online, which means anyone can get one in any part of the world even if they just ship it to US only.

      • Bugbog

Err..Microsoft has an online product store in the UK.

        • Emi Cyberschreiber

that’s why I included in my quote from MS press release “AND available through SELECT online Microsoft Stores.”
thats why i said “even IF they just ship it to US only” because via online (thinking its real what people say about being US only) you still can get one, just like people does when an online store isn’t for their country.
But its not like “US only” means it will be dead. specially after they clearly stated the “Microsoft store” thing (because all physical stores are currently in US)
so If they said that on the announcement, how is that magically today Surface is “it will fail”?
anyway its good there is an online Store in UK. maybe you will have no problems getting one. because I honestly don’t know where they ship and where they don’t. I know in my 2 countries they don’t, and i dont know where I can see that. also Microsoft hasn’t said a word about it so that’s why, again, I said “if”

  • kevgallacher

Have they stated US only, I haven’t heard that from anywhere.
I reckon the sales will be pretty poor. Its only the RT version that is getting released. Everyone wants the Pro version which isn’t out till next yeah.
If its US only then this product will fail.

  • Johan Nilsson

Didnt they say that EU (web)stores that is “MS Certificated”, or whatever its called, would be able to distribute the Surface despite it beeing a US Only release?
So I guess we techfreaks that really want it will have no trouble getting one.

But they got to have a plan for a European release sometime in 2013.

    • kevgallacher

Do you have a source for this “US only” announcement?

    I like the art work…
