Microsoft Continues Its No.1 Position In US Gaming Console Market With Xbox 360


Microsoft maintained its position as No.1 game console in March with Xbox 360 U.S. Xbox 360 sold more units than any other console and emerged out as the best-selling console for 27th consecutive month.

March highlights from The NPD Group include:

· Xbox 360 sold 261,000 units, maintaining the number-one console spot in the U.S.

· Total retail spend on the Xbox 360 platform reached $402 million, (hardware, software and accessories), the most for any console in the U.S.

· During the month of March, Xbox 360 held six of the top 10 console game titles including: “Bioshock Infinite,” “NBA 2K13,” “Gears of War: Judgment,” “Tomb Raider,” “The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct” and “Call of Duty: Black Ops II.”

    What about the Japanese & European markets. Yeah right let’s not talk about where XBox 360 is failing miserably.

      Why would they if it is an NPD group statistic? Japan the 360 does not have a presence, but that is a considerably smaller market than the U.S. In European markets I imagine it is still competitive but data isn’t as well collected as it is in Japan and the U.S.

      The Xbox 360 just past the Wii in the UK, and past the PS3 a long time ago for total console sales.

    and more important, the active subscriptions Xbox Live Users went up to 46 million worldwide, that is huge numbers :)
